I just saw a bike doing a 79er. 29 in front, 750 in back. I've also seen a 69er. The question is.... Why doesn't this seem to catch on in the bike world? Motorcycles do different size wheels all of the time. Dirt bikes are significantly different. Are there different mechanics involved that someone could shed light on?
Mixed wheel sizes... Why not?

·1) It's a hard bike to market and sell.
2) It would require acknowledging the merits of different sized wheels.
3) It goes against the desire of manufacturers to have a single wheel size.
4) It's the worst of all worlds to the wheel size tribalists.
It's a good idea, though.

I'd love to try one. A slack(ish), 100mm 76er hardtail with space for 2.4-2.5 tires. If I ever go custom that's what I'll be ordering. Will it be magic, or will it be a dog? IDK, it just sounds right to me though...
