Hi.can anyone tell me what maintenance I can do to my ck rear hub without owning the expensive service kit?

Pretty much everything other than removing the bearings and ring drive.

With a 2.5mm allen wrench, you can loosen the adjustment cones and pull out the axle. Next, pull out the freehub. From there, you can use a pen knife or pick to remove the snap rings and rubber seals over the bearings and clean and lube them back up with the Ring Drive lube. Pretty simple job to be honest.

The only real reason you need the tool is if you are replacing bearings, or want to completely disassemble the ring drive system.

I still have yet to replace a bearing on my Kings hubs. One set is over 8 years old.
 
Just as dustyduke, said. I would add that these are simple to maintain, but not the easiest, and it takes a bit of time. Make sure to buy Ringdrive lube, it's cheap, considering it will lube a lot of hubs. I use the Chris King videos, to guide me. I have short fingers, so it is difficult to manipulate drive rings, to relube, but now you know ahead of time. No big deal. It's a fun project if you set aside some time. I find the preload needs to be monitored for a few rides, each time I clean/lube/reassemble. Do others need to keep an eye on preload for a few rides each time they clean?
 
Buy a big can of non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Once you have everything apart and the seals off the bearings, put on some goggles and blow out all the dirt and old lube with the brake cleaner. It completely dries and doesnt leave dirty residue behind like wd-40 does.

I use the products Chris King recommends, but I am a bit detail oriented.
I use their lube, but wd40 as a cleaning agent is just stupid. It's residue corrupts the fresh lube. Using the brake cleaner gets you much closer to what you'd have if you took everything completely apart and washed everything in a parts washer. If you have a compressor, you can blow out more of the wd40 and be a little better off, but still. Just make sure its non chlorinated. The clorinated stuff will ruin the anodizing.
