Pretty stoked on these. WTB has a new line of rims available for custom builds, the ASYM.

Stats...are unknown at the moment, other than there are three versions available: i23, i29, and i35, where the number is the inner width. And, they are all all asymmetric, and have WTB's excellent TCS tubeless bead profile.

I know a few bikes have had these rims OE (some Santa Cruz I think?), but I have yet to find any hard data on them, like weight. They're not on WTB's website yet.

Available in 27.5 and 29, I don't think they are doing 26" (my distributors don't have it at least). I've got a set of all three widths in 29er size incoming and will have some actual pics, weights, etc. this weekend or early next week. Prices are in-line with their Frequency series of rims.

Summary So Far - known excellent tubeless profile, offset spoke bed, and really wide options without having to spend carbon rim money. Unless they're just super duper heavy, I imagine these are going to be very popular.

Found this.

WTB is launching the Asym rims in 27.5in and 29in diameters, and in four internal widths: the 19mm-wide i19 (389g; 408g), the 23mm-wide i23 (426g; 427g), and the far broader i29 (538g; 583g) and i35 (570g; 612g). Prices range from US$85 to 90, depending on size.

What's their price point?

If the price is on-point this could kill off a lot of other brands and models that are not asymmetric. I really think the asymmetric builds are going to do good things for stiffness and longevity.

Its interesting watching all these wheel weights going up again. I remember when I got rid of a wheelset that had 500g rims for rims in the 370g range, and was so happy with the reduction in rotating mass. And now as we are going for wider and bigger hoops the weights are creeping up to 600+.

The idea of the asym rim is good though - I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a set of these for the same reason:

What's their price point?
Circa $98 MSRP on the 'normal' widths, probably a touch more as they get wider.

I suspect they'll keep the Frequency/KOM i25's, and eventually roll out Asym's in that width, but right now the i23Asym is replacing the existing i21/i23's and the i29 is in such close proximity weight wise with the i25's that I think the stiffer i29 is preferable for most uses (not that I have any complaints whatsoever with my older non-Asym i25 rims, they're properly amazing).

I'd seriously consider building up wheels in the i29 with DT Comp spokes, or even Revs to make up the weight (should be really stiff at the rim anyway) and you'll have slightly better contact patch in the same wheel weight.

But wider make it more prone to dent. I never dented Freq i23 on seriously gnars terrain, I dented the KOM i23 in the first week of use.
Could be bad luck, but in the end the KOM i23 is too light for me. i29 with the same weigth will be worse (asym do not make sidewall stronger).
A lot of people reported the same issue with new Ryde wide asym rims: too easy to dent.
No free lunch: only carbon can provide wide, strong and light rims alltogether, at a price.

This is going to dent so easily on rocks.

After riding KOM, I won't go back to WTB rims. Finishing is poor and scratches easily, rim material is very soft and easy to dent.

I'm on Giant wheels now and they've been the best wheelset I ever had - very stiff and strong, stay true and roll well.
Ok, it's not the "modern" 25+ width, but who cares.
