I am talking with a few frame builders about my new ride. I am stuck between going with an EBB( which I have on my current bike) vs. sliding dropouts. The frame builder is pushing towards sliders , However , I am not completely sold on it being a better mouse-trap....or is it just fashionable as of late. Any feedback or neg experiences with either would Help.

I'm hot to try a sliding dropout setup (a la On-One or Kona). Today I was mentating on the idiosyncrasies of the EBB, and decided that I don't like how a change in gearing equates to a change in rider compartment. I change the cog, and it moves the bottom bracket location. Then I have to move the saddle to get it just right, which in turn means I need a different stem height or reach. All these changes mean my bike handles slightly differently than before.

Is there a perfect solution?

still wondering

Thanks for directing me to the other post. However, most seem undecided. I really like the clean lines of EBBs, but it would be great if my position didn't have to change. I currently on will put my ebb only from the 3 to 6 o'clock position. every other spot just feels too off. Any one own both ?

i'm with Nat here. i have two frames 29er ebb frames, one bling ti bike and one of those fancy niner one9 frames.

being able to switch gears and not have an effect on st angle and the general cockpit set up seem like great advantages to me. lately, i have been switching out gear ratios more often and my knees have been starting to ache abit....maybe related to a change in st angle?

i have had a chance to hold a set of those paragon sliders, both in steel and in ti, and they are very nice. much beefier than what is on other frames i have see, like the voodoo dambala for one.

if builders like soulcraft, wily, solitude, desalvo and ground up (it's my understanding that this builder, Eric?, designed these) are using these dropouts, then they should be awesome.

also, i have heard that these add roughly 1/8 of a pound to overall frame weight.

i think i might be replacing both of my frames with a frame what uses the new paragon drops. i have been talking to desalvo and black sheep.
