I ended up getting ProII Evo hubs built on the new Hope Tech XC rims for a bit over $400. We'll see how the Hope rims are.
 
I got in on that deal about a month ago. I have the pro2 EVO's laced to a set of Flow EX's and couldn't be happier. They were shipped the morning after I placed the order, well packaged, and arrived in around 9 days from the time of order.

Why did you choose the XC rims over the others? Weight is appealing but only 19.5 mm internal width.
More a cyclocross/gravel wheelset build. Was originally thinking of doing the Stan's Grail, and that's only .8mm wider.

Free shipping on wheels starts at 150 pounds, so closer to $240.
Either way I'm good.

My wheels arrived today, and as far as I can tell, the Hope rims look to be pretty nice quality. Without rim tape, at 811 grams, the front wheel was 1g heavier than the weight given by Hope on their website, while the rear at 940 grams was only 9g heavier. Nice quality control.

Have you tried setting these up tubeless yet? What tires are you planning to run?

No tires yet, got a set of Specialized Tracers on order. Put the Stan's yellow tape on them today, as they were sent with no rimstrips, although they threw in a couple rolls of Velox into the box. May have to pick up a couple of valves with removable cores also.

Gonna air them up with tubes first, and let them sit overnight to really mold the rimstrip to the rim.

So I figured I'd try mounting up a regular road tire I had laying around, with a tube. A bear to mount, especially since they were a 23c and not a lot of room to shove the tube up in there once the tire was mounted. Had to use a lever, and think I mangled the tube, as it was hissing air as I pumped it up. Got it up to about 80 pounds, and think the bead seated, but it won't stay up, due to the ruined tube. But it's a slow leak, and I think most of it is leaking out around the valve stem. otherwise, it looks like this might hold air pretty well, even without sealant.

So it lost air, and I blew it up again a few more times, each time losing air to the slow leak around the valve. The third or fourth time, the bead slipped off the rim opposite the valve at around 70 or so pounds, with a big rush of air, so the tube is shot but the rim is holding air for the most part.

Not sure why the bead slipped off. It didn't blow off, just slipped free. May be cause it's an old round tire bead on a tubeless ready rim, and so didn't sit so securely without the pressurized tube holding it into place. Maybe the rim won't hold higher pressures. But I'm gonna take the tube out, put in a tubeless valve, and then see if it seats without a tube or sealant, and how long it'll hold pressure that way.
