The one thing I would do different is go wide and cheap on the bar and stem. This area has so much more impact on the bikes feel. I love my RIP so much more with a longer bar and shorter stem combo. I went with a Race Face Atlas Aluminum. 780mm with a 50mm stem. Love it. Went from a 680mm and 90mm on my old 26" Stumpy.
I like wide bars

I have wide bars on my most used bikes & short stems.

WFO9 760mm bar, 55mm stem
Rip9 RDO 780mm bar,55mm stem
Rip9 alloy 760m bar, 55mm stem

I'm 6 foot & ride Lge frames, I like the 760mm a little more than the 780, But not enough to shorten it.

On the Rip9 Alloy I had a alloy bar on it & found it harder on my hands than my other bikes, So changed to carbon as well.

I'm confused. Bars are 785mm with a 60mm stem. We're going to fine tune the stem +/- 10 mm, and/or possibly change the rise to ten degrees depending on fitment. I've got a fused spine, so I need to be in a bit more upright position than might be optimal.

Not entirely sure what you'd change, since what you recommended is pretty much what I have. Could you elaborate?

Being hurt is why I went with a carbon bike, rims, and bar. I need the vibration dampening in order to ride with any semblance of comfort. An alloy bike *hurts*.

When the builder opened the box today, no headset. I didn't think it was shipped with the frame, and it wasn't.

Luckily, the LBS had a red anodized Chris King Inset Model 2 that solved the problem. It looks awesome, so Gold Star to Rufus for suggesting the red headset.

Bike should be fitted Monday and picked up Tuesday-- The Next SixC bar wont' be in until Tues am.

I had a few snaps sent to me today-- it's Purdy.

I can't wait to get this thing on the trail. It will be interesting to see how it compares to Niner's 3 Star XT (w/ Reynold's cf wheelset) and 5 Star XTR builds (two of my buddys each picked one up last week. We have a Murder of Niners now.)

Ok, sorry, I stand corrected. NSB makes their 180 PM adapters unlike any other I've ever seen:

Too bad the bike shop is closed on Saturdays... I'm about to go ride near Golden and I wanna see this bad boy in person!

Quick question. Does anyone know the frame weight differential between a Rip RDO M and an Rip RDO L?

Just curious as to how my build compares weight wise to my two buddie's XT and XTR builds.

NOT a weight weenie by any remote stretch of the imagination, but just curious.

It's just the right amount of red material showing to add some color without being garish. Pretty much an exact color match for the red Niner bolts and decals. Now the red King spacers with it would just be too much.

I'm a big Hope fan, and would love to maybe go with their bottom bracket cups, but their red doesn't quite match. Might have to upgrade to the King someday.

Edit: What are those post adapters? NSB? Where would I get those?

North Shore Billet. They make Nice Things. They're anodized aluminum, so you will NOT get any flex from the adapter.

I think I might stop by on the way home tomorrow to visit the bike. Still considering red anodized steel (yes, they exist) rotor bolts and/or red chain ring bolts. Might be too much red. Have to get eyes on to decide.

Blue crank boots, Blue head set spacers: I really wanted the black frame, but the blue was $900 less. Paint doesn't make you ride faster. I ended up going with as much black as possible (the original idea was red accents on the black frame).

180 rotors front & back: Weight penalty of the 203 on the front is negligible (~25 grams or so?). I have a 200/180 on my old bike, and really like the feel. I'm a clyde, so more area to disperse heat isn't bad. I zorched the 180/160 rotors on the mountain when I demo'd the bike.

760mm wide bar. Tried the wide bar, did not like. I've got a blown shoulder, so the narrower bar helps. I'm currently on a 680, so I'm going wider than I've had as it is.

The wheel set that you are looking at are ok. I emailed my LBS guy about this. Never heard about Light-Bicycle rims.

Thanks for the inputs!

So-- I stopped at my LBS on Sunday after driving to CO from CA (bringing my AF car back home) and got to check out the bike and take it on a quick spin. Still waiting on the correct bar and a few other minor odds and ends. Next week (assuming the bar comes in), I'll pick it up and we'll adjust the cable slack, fit the bike, and cut down the bars as needed. I'm flying all week anyway, so it's not like I could ride it if I was home.

First impression? This thing is going to be a beast!
