So my friend got a new 2013 Gt fury 3.0 for his birth day. He says it's weight is not that heavy. I was looking at the Airborne Toxin today and it's 39.5 pounds. For my first downhill bike I thought it looks pretty good. Especially for $1700. But I'm not sure if 39.5 pounds is to much weight.
My question is, how much does the gt fury 3.0 weigh so I can get a good understanding on how much the Airborne weighs.

Thanks. Geoff smith

If its your first downhill bike don't worry about the weight. A 40 + lb. bike was the norm just a couple of years ago and nobody had problems with them..Just get your bike and enjoy some d.h. trails.

I have a 2013 GT Fury 3.0 size small and it weighs around 37-38ish pounds (I wasn't using the most accurate scale)

I have to agree with Rob-Bob. Weight doesn't matter on your first DH bike. The Fury is my first true DH bike (had a Scott Voltage before) and the only time I've even thought about the weight is when loading the bike into my car.

If you're looking for something nimble, a long travel single crown bike like the aforementioned Airborne Toxin would be a good fit. Also, if it's your first downhill bike, you might want to look at a used bike because you will probably be falling a lot. Trashing a new bike is never a good feeling.

I was planning on buying the toxin, I just wanted to make sure that I didn't weigh to much compared to my friends gt fury. I've been riding downhill for many years now, but I have always rented, since DH bikes cost a ton, I don't really have to wory about falling very much
