Thats according to Lapierre Australia. The person I discussed regarding the piggyback rear shox, they fitted vivid air r2c and monarch plus 2 weeks ago during the release of new Spicy and Zesty 2015 version in Europe. At full compression the piggyback hits the top tube. So he advice me to install a monarch RT3 debonAir.

if anyone successfully installed a monarch plus in their zesty/spicy 2014 without any problem please share it to us. So in the near future we could upgrade :).

Anyway I upgraded my fork to 160mm Pike and still waiting for the monarch RT3 2015 and the narrower seat stay next week to be fitted.

The color scheme of the Zesty 2015 is nicer than 2014. :( New 2015 Lapierre Mountains Bikes, Electronic Suspension Tech, and A La Carte Ordering

Here it goes I stripped off the fork and rear shock, I replaced it with RockShox Pike 160mm and Monarch RT3 DebonAir. I also replaced the bike to Shimano Saint M820. Now its rides every better, very plush.

I test rode a Zesty 527 the other day, like the one above in the pic, and it rode great. The only thing I did not like about it was the constant ticking noise from the constant adjustment. If I may ask Rave81 why did you change out the suspension? Too pay the 5k and totally swap out the suspension is a drastic move.

I bought my zesty 527 for $3500 aud plus $500 cashback. I didnt like the fox fork 32 and the float ctd, because even though I lowered the psi it doesnt ride as plush as the pike and debonair.

Also I rockshock needs servicing every 100hrs compared to fox which is every 30hrs.

Ive been wanting to install a fox float x or monarch plus however at full compression the piggyback hits the top tube which will eventually damage the frame.

The components comes with zesty/spicy 2014 isnt as good as the 2015 version. I believe the 2015 version comes with pike or fox 36 and monarch debonair. Wait for the 2015 version its color scheme are pretty cool.

I have been looking into the shock upgrade on my 2014 Spicy 527 for the past few weeks, and have got heard the recommendations from Lapierre that there is a fitting issue with the piggyback shocks. I have a large size frame, and the space seems like they should fit. I have let the air out of the shock to see how / where it moves during compression, but still seems like it should fit.
Did you try fitting a piggyback shock, or just went on recommendations, if so what size frame do you have?

Try the monarch rt3 debonair.

It seems the sram x7 front der. needs constant adjustment almost every ride, has anyone have this problem with their zesty/ spicy?

@downward

How did you managed to remove your race face turbine chain set? I loosen the 8mm bolt but I wasn't able to remove the crank arm.

Try Monarch RT3 DebonAir it made my bike plusher than then fox float rear shox. another option is the DB inline.

Do you find 34T easier to climb technical hills?

Yet another broken main pivot bolt on my zesty 527. Lapierre now says there is no way it would break unless it was loose. Which is the opposite since the first time it broke they claimed it was over tightened. The only thing they seem to want to offer is another bolt which at the rate I've been going will last about 2 months. Also the new computer with longer contacts continues to only work about 50% of the time. Again no real help from Lapierre they just claim I don't charge the bike often enough or say they don't believe it.

I'll probably be selling this bike and will for sure be avoiding all Lapierre bikes in the future.

I got no problems with my Lapierre Zesty 527, I raced in Enduro I haven't broken anything I even accidentally crash onto a rock and not a single crack on the frame. The only problem I encountered is the front der sram x7 needs constant adjustment. So I'll be replacing that with Shimano XT version more reliable and durable component.

Did you fit the pivot your or your lbs?
Could you please post a pic of the broken pivot here.

Am 727

I am a Newbie, so go easy.

Here is my new AM 727. I pick it up when I get back to Adelaide, Australia in about 2 weeks time. Can't wait. Have got a four day ride up at Melrose planned with my brother and his new Trek Remedy 9.0 and my father, who is also a keen mtb'r.

Upgraded to RCT3 160mm immediately and upgraded to Maxxis High Roller 2 on the front, as you can see. Will run the NN's on the back and see how that works out for now.

Have had the lbs check torque on the main pivot bolt. Hoping to not have any issues with that or the Ei, which I'm a bit nervous about still.

Wish me luck!

You should have waited for the 2015 version, coz the color is better and they fix the problem with wide seat stay.

I recently raced my Zesty 527 in WA gravity Enduro. this bike is amazing. It climb easily and it really likes the downhill :).

Agreed, the colour scheme is far from my first choice, but I don't think I would have got the deal I got if I'd ordered the 2015. I am taking some comfort from the 'murdered out' matt black on the downtube. I think the fork lower is matt also, I have ordered some matt frameskins just in case. I will be satisfied with function over form regardless.

Not sure the 2015 would have been here in time for the ride either.

I checked heel clearance on my Giant, Anthem, and I seem to have plenty of room, but time will tell.

I converted my zesty to spicy by installing Pike 160mm and also I changed the rear shock to Monarch RT3 Debon Air, it makes the bike plusher to ride.

I also changed the stem to 50mm thomson with Fatbar Carbon 780mm (not shown in this email)

I'm keeping the raceface 2x10 coz i need i like long climbs but I installed e.thirteen chain guide. Also changed the shifters to XTR and changed the front der to XT, because the x7 requires constant adjustment since I got this bike.

I changed the pedals to time atac mx8 more suitable for enduro racing.

@Stef

Frameskin has not existing precut for zesty/spicy did you purchase the generic?

I have to get mine at invisiframe it cost more.

Hi!

I have the Spicy team, with E:I, but im not really happy with it.
So im thinking to change it for a Debonair, what Tune did you choose Rave81?
I just broke the part that holds the display on the Stem in a crash, I thought i could fix it with super glue, but there`s no connection with the display. Not sure if some cables broke, hard to see.
I understand why Lapierre did some changes with the system for 2015..
otherwise im really happy with the bike, great allrounder.

Thats the main reason I did not chose the I:e version. Electronic component in mountain bike wont last.

I havd the m/l tune.

has anyone of your have constant main issue with the Sram X7 front der. I have to adjust it every 2 to 3 rides.

2014 Spicy LARGE FRAME with piggyback shock - Cane Creek

Just to add some info on the piggyback shocks suitability on the 2014 Spicy / Zesty.....
I got my hands on a Cane Creek Double Barrel Air (200 x 75 size match to Original) and had a crack at fitting it......
Please NOTE : This is a size LARGE FRAME.

As you can see, there is about 8 - 10mm clearance between the frame and the piggyback, when in full compression.
With this confirmed, I went back to Rock Shock for some more info (specific measurements), which they impressed me in providing in quick time.
The critical measurements I was after, was the distance from the top eye down to the end of the piggyback, and the distance from the centerline of the shock to the outer edge of the piggyback at such point.
The said that for the Monarch Plus Debonair (200 x 57) the length to the end of the piggyback was 100mm down from the eye, and from the centerline out was 56mm.
As you can see from the first photo, there is somewhere around 65mm available.......
Success.... I have now ordered the new shock, and wait patiently to see if I have made the correct decision... Wish me luck.

Really looking forward to reading your information regarding that piggyback in a large frame. Thinking about a Monarch Plus Debonair or a CC DBinline for my bike. Not liking the Fox Float CTD at all.

Building my dream bike from a Lapierre Zesty 527 and all that's left is that rear shock.
