I want to replace the stock XCM fork of my 2013 Trek 4300 with the Epicon XC 2014. How is this fork considering performance and durability?
Yep I did the same thing. I've had it two months and so far it's pretty great. I use it on pretty technical trails, at least for VA. http://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/buttermilk.htmlI got one this season from China.. I love it. It's a great fork for 200 bucks.

I can directly compare the Epicon to a more expensive fork. I sold a Fox 32 float CTD and bought the nicer Epicon in 140mm with 15mm thru axle and low speed compression. In my experience the Epicon blows the Fox out of the water. Being a lighter weight rider (140lbs without gear), I could never get the Fox to perform worth a damn. I had to run lower pressure in it and that made it prone to some severe brake dive and it rode really low in the travel. If I upped the pressure at all, I wouldn't get all the travel and the fork rode harshly.Im not going to compare it to forks 3x it's price, but if you want something that does exactly what it should do, for a really good price.. Its definitely worth it.
I've had mine since May. My dampening works fine. I have the 9mm QR XC RL-R from China. It's worked great for me. Very smooth.I'm interested to know the long-term performance of the 2014 Epicons. An LBS said they've been getting quite a few complaints about the damping mechanism of the 2014s (she didn't elaborate), so the 2013s are selling better. OTOH, the sales girl was just probably trying to get rid of old stock
I'd very much appreciate an update to these posts in the next couple of months, as I'm considering getting this fork. Please indicate which exact fork you have (there are several versions).
TIA
