since richard cunningham joined pb, i don't take their reviews seriously at all. i'm not surprised that they gave the nod to the nomad. not knocking it at all, but their advertising budget is 10000 times what knolly's is. pinkbike with rc at the helm is about generating advertiser dollars.
get out and demo some bikes. asking on a consumer bike site will get you people's opinions on "their" bikes. only you can decide what is best for you. narrow down your choices for sure off of recommendations, but for the money bikes cost now, get out and demo your final two or three choices

problem with knolly is no demo available... living in the bay area i belive this should not be an issue, but there is no demo.
demoed da nomad3, its an amazing bike for ucsc riding. read the reviews after demo and they are spot on, exactly how would i describe it.

I had the same issue when I was looking at a new bike. The Warden was one of the choices. I couldn't get my hands on any of my top choices except for one and I ended up buying that bike.
Test riding a bike is a great idea, but I frequently don't find it possible.

Unless I'm willing to spend $1K to travel to someplace with a demo it's quite unlikely I'd get a chance to actually ride a bike I want to buy on dirt.
To actually get my hands on a Mach 6 I had to drive from BC to Sedona. I happened to be going there anyways so it was no big deal, but if that trip didn't happen I'd just have had to pull the trigger on a new bike blind.
