I was gonna hold off on the build till I can get a hold of Craig and get a quote on some updates to my v1 888 cartridge (I want to get knobs on it), but decided to do some small stuff, like install some needle bearings in the CCDB's eyelet.

Just a heads up about the CCDB...seems the eyelet dia isn't like the standard eyelet diameter to use the 1/2" x 1/2" DU bushing. The RWC needle bearing got stuck, along w/ the tool used to install it. I had to Dremel the tool in half to get it out so I can punch out the needle bearing (destroyed in the process...sacrificed to save the shock). This didn't make sense so I tried to put in a standard Fox DU bushing. It too got stuck, and I used the original CCDB DU to get the Fox one out...which I ruined in the process. Once everything was out, I mic'd the eyelet and got 0.58" diameter. Then, I mic'd a RS Monarch Plus damper body I recently replaced which had that now destroyed needle bearing installed in at one point, and got a 0.593" dia. And lastly, I mic'd a X-Fusion Vector HLR coil, the latest shock that same needle bearing was installed in and it had a 0.595".

I've got a msg into CC asking what's up. Will update when I get info. Until then, don't try to put needle bearings into the CCDB eyelet.

Edit: Chris from RWC...BEST help ever! Apparently CC has 3 eyelet sizes, 14.7mm (0.58"), 15mm (0.59"), and 16mm (0.63")...WHAT IN THE HOLY LIVING HELL!?
Fox's spec is 15.02mm (0.591"). Both of my eyelets are 14.7mm (0.58"). So, off to RWC to get it reamed out, $20/end, and CC is okay w/ it and won't void their warranty. Doing both ends so I can use needle bearing standard DUs later.

I will update more pics once it's done

How much do you weight with gear ? How much sag with 550 on the 2014 ?

Thanks
I weigh about 220 geared up. Sean Gollub suggested the 550 spring. I have only set up up on the base tune for now. Will start playing with the settings when I can. Just climbing on the bike and feeling it sag it feels like this spring with 4 turns of preload will be fine

Mine

Went the DVO treatment. Build is nearly complete, waiting on front rubber and a new front rotor

Large with CCDB
Canfield wheels
Canfield cranks in 165
Avid XO/Code hybrid brakes
Renthal bar
Gravity stem
X0 rear mech
990 cassette
Maxxis HR2 front and rear when done
Odi Rogue grips

weighs just shy of 40 as it sits so should be right on 40 when done. Very pumped to get her out.

Pretty stoked to wake up and see this thread going with build pics today! Scrolling through, not only seeing our new Jedi, but so many sets of our AM/DH Cranks as well is quite rewarding. Thank you all for the support! You guys are the heart of our customer base and we couldn't do it without you guys!

Can't wait to hear ride reports! Everyone that has had the opportunity to hop on mine has been blown away.

Speaking of which:

Cody - Stoked to see the first pics of a DVO kit! Sadly, we never had the chance to see one at the office as forks were sent out before the Jedi's landed.

Ryan - Yeah bro! Loving the custom paint on the 888 Evo! (Not sure why that fork isn't offered in Black)

Brian - Your build is going to be one of the most blinged out Jedi's this year! Just a note that Brian's baller 380 is the fork we used for our press release photos. Pinkbike and Vital approved!

Paul - Can't wait to see your new beast!

Vincent - Welcome to the club!

Hey Vin..... With pleasure we support the best rider owned company in the business!!!! And as always your Jedi looks killer but......where is Seans????
Sean's is currently in a box on it's way to Bootleg for the race next weekend. We did something special with Seaner's Jedi for all of his kick a$$ work! I'm sure he'll post pics after the race.

My Jedi made it to Canada. Just have to wait for it to travel all the way to me on the east coast. Once up ill also put pics.

This thread keep me alive waiting ;) thanks to all of you teasing my eyes.

My bench is all cleaned up with all my parts lined up. i NEVER was so ready!

xetal, was there duty applied coming across the border? How much? I guess you won't know until it arrives at your door, but can you post up when you find out?

Thanks.
Will do. The bike passed the border in Vancouver. I have no idea if i will get taxed for BC or QC, the province i live in. If i get BC taxes only, you can split the bill in half.

If your concern about them you can ask Sean to get the bike shipped to the closest UPS store across the border and manage your way back.

I will let you know what taxes i get charged. What province do you live in ?

Vincent

Question here for previous owners. Is it any good to protect the frame finish with 3M tape or heli tape ?

I had one bike in the past that was anodized and forgot how tough the finish was.

I already have the tape but dont know if it's worth putting it on.

Thank you

Vincent

DT guard

Spent a couple of hours modifying Cytoe's DT guard w/ a heat gun an da Dremel tool...prettied it up and made it much more form-fitting. Looking at 3M Dual Lock to hold it on the frame...
