The Fuji has a much better drive train and especially brakes. The Spec has better shock/fork.The cost to upgrade either to the other is about equal. We deal Fuji so I give the vote on the Fuji. I also think it looks better.

The stumpy is a much more capable trail/ AM bike and you will have a lot of fun on it. Fuji has nicer spec but not very good resell value.

The rear suspension design on the stumpy is also better.

I think it depends on what your riding style is or will be

Considering that Fuji license's Specialized's FSR suspension design, and the SLX/XT vs X7/X9 drivetrain is a pretty much equal comparison, I'd go for the Stumpy for the better shock and fork.

The only plus that the Fuji has over the Stumpy is the brakes, but you can go tubeless with only Stans yellow tape on the Stumpy wheels. To go tubeless on the Inferno's you need the Stan's conversion kit, so the tires don't blow off.

Thanks for the responses. I've ridden both bikes and both are awesome. Not sure yet what to do. The Fuji also seems to have a better crank. Like I said, I'm getting a killer deal on both bikes. I need more input.

Both bikes are great, you really can't go wrong with either of them. If I were you I would go with the Fuji just because it looks better.

Here's the real dilemma. The bike shop selling the Fuji is almost out of business. The owner is looking to sell the store from what I hear. Which is why he is giving me such a great deal. I may actually even talk him down even further. Should I buy from him?

If you are getting a great unbeatable deal on the Fuji, go for it. Take advantage of this closure (I did, my LBS closed, 75% off of everything. I bought so much from them and saved over $1000.). The Fuji also has better brakes and drivetrain as another prompt.

I would be saving about $300 with the Fuji. I've researched more and the Fuji has the better parts all around. Brakes, crank, wheels. The Stump has the more expensive fork, but it had issues for the 2013 and the Rockshox Sector actually has real good reviews. The rear shock is the only part that the Stump is clearly better in. I'm just hesitant because the Fuji bike shop may be on it's way out and even then the owner isn't to experience with these kind of bikes. The dealer that sells the Specialized is established and very competent.

You will be saving money with the Fuji, and if anything brakes, you will be able to take it to any LBS to fix it (if you don't want to fix it yourself.)

Money is money and unless the spec dealer is throwing in free service then it does not matter as any bike shop will charge you to work on it if you dont work on it yourself. I like Shimano myself but the Sector fork is not the Fox for sure!
Tough call if its just between those 2 bikes.

Btw, forgot to mention the stumpy has many proprietory parts that makes upgrade a pain.

And again...fuji has very low resell value. Buy the bike for the parts. Upgrade to a nicer frame using the good parts. I did that once with a bike that was 60% off. Sold the frame for next to nothing, and built up a santa cruz with it. That bike end up being about 1000 cheaper. Fuji is good for these kind of things when it is this deeply discounted.

I own both brands and these my things that stands out about both
