I'm looking at one of these three rides: Specialized stumpjumper, Giant XTC, and the Trek 8000. I would specifically like some oppinions regarding the FRAME of these bikes, but any input would be helpful. I want a quality frame that will be great for upgrading in the future.
any info, advice, oppinions, facts, etc appreciated!!

I have an XTC and an 8000, both are 2005's and are supposedly the same frame size.
The Giant's geometry is pretty weird, it's actually 2-1/4" shorter than the 8000 which makes it feel like a very cramped bike to me, even with a 120mm stem on it.
Actually, the uncomfortable position of the Giant is why I now have the Trek.

Also, never had a problem with Trek replacing a cracked frame but when my last Giant cracked after 3 seasons, I went through hell getting them to honor the warranty.

I have no experience with Specialized so unfortunately can't offer an opinion there.

Depends on the intended use, personnally, I think specialized frames are over priced for what I find to be generally ugly bikes (rockhopper, ugh ). But having ridden both the XTC and the Trek 8000, I can tell you that they're both nice. I might give the edge to the Trek 8000, I believe it has the Zr9000 alloy, the added zirconium stiffens the ride up, and you can race the **** out of that bike. I currently ride a Giant NRS with the same front Triangle as the XTC, and now that I am used to the geometry, which is very race/climbing oriented I love it.
just my 2 cents,
good luck chief.....
test ride the trek and giant!
