Its of absolutely no concern. Complete non-issue, dont worry about it.

Ive hit 35... 35 on dirt is *really* fast.
I definitely disagree that its a non-issue. Saidrick is absolutely correct that the anti's can and will use this info against us. As someone who is pretty involved in increasing trail access, trust me on this one . . . I've seen it first-hand.

54 mph on a gravel access road.

Mid 20's on the trail. Not much room between rocks to get speed up.
Good lord, the last place I would want to be doing 50+ is on gravel! Can you imagine the scrubbing you'd get in the ER?

Little late... 20 posts in, damage is done. Only thing to do now is close the thread.

I max out at about 15mph on my high speed trail rides. 20mph downhill on the road.

At a DH track many years ago (CLOSED TO PUBLIC for safety) most of us were getting to 99.9km (around 60mph) on a steep, smooth and long bit of fire road. This was back before strava - so it was trusty / dodgy cycle computer that topped out at 99.9 km. Not really sure how accurate it was at that speed as a small error at a slow speed may have been a large error at a faster pace.

Certainly felt uncomfortably fast and the wind was similar to the motorbike on the highway.

We're the flat side of NC (the coast) but even with the small "hills" (like 15 ft of elevation change) usually hit 20 mph on any given ride. I've hit 33 mph on the hilly side of the state, but I haven't ridden there much.

Got 48 mph on the road once, but on a HT mtb I won't go any faster than my grip will tolerate and usually only in an XC race. Not too much above 10-15 on trails otherwise. :)

I've done 26 on flat paved roadway on my MTB for 3/4 of a mile. That was in top great as fast as I could push. There was not much left after that.

On trails, I try to keep under 15. I just feel dodgy.

I did, however, record 125 mph on a helicopter ride to the ER. I'm KOM for that segment. (I was at about 6 mph and fell off the mountain.)

Speed on a mountain bike is completely relative to the trails you ride. My hometown trails are full of underbrush that often prevent any real site lines, and a lot of tight and twisty turns, so it's hard to push it past 20 mph for more than a few seconds. On the other hand, I've pushed into the low 40s on wide open fire roads.

A lady thanked me for habving my bell. Looking at the large group, I wanted to tell her don't get the wrong idea, it's really so I don't run over rabbits.

My point: ease up on the liberal trail use. It doesn't really get much respect when all it does is create unreal expectations that are pressed on other riders.

Top speed: 41, basic fire roads
Trail: 34

Typically mid 20's on singletrack...
Mid 30's on a local DH run...
58mph on a wide open fire road according to my Garmin 800 w/GPS and speed sensor.

Down where I live there is a long cycle track (6 miles or so) that I got 24mph on today. Ofcourse this was with the wind behind me with pushing hard in the lowest gear. My max is 27mph downhill with the wind behind me.

49mph on dirt on my singlespeed.

Have had my computer record 131mph on technical singletrack and 87 on a trail climb. Probably in error ;)
No, you're just slow. :) My GPS said I hit 125 mph on a single track climb with a grade of 6%. I obviously would have blown by you since you were only doing 87. Too bad I did it before the age of Strava. The GPS said it so it must be true. I've also driven 449 mph in my Subaru and 268 mph on my 250 cc single motorcycle. GPSs DON'T LIE! haha

For real, I have hit about 60 mph on a 4 lane road on my road bike downhill with a tailwind. I got over in the left lane and started passing cars. I got a thumbs up from one guy and a woman in a convertible pulled over about a mile after the hill to ask me for my phone number.

I once reached 80 kph going down a steep hill on the road before i pulled the brake lever.
Pedaling on the road on the same mtb i can reach 60 kph.
On the trail my average top speed is around 40 kph. this is also how fast the wippet goes when she slows down for me.
No idea what my downhill speed is on the trail I'm too busy holding on to look.
