I'm looking at getting a ti rigid fork for my 26er ti bike. Much talk years ago about problems with ti forks breaking. What's the latest word on these? What about the J&L titanium fork on eBay...or should I just go carbon like a Carver/White Brothers?

My White Brothers "Rock Solid" showed up today and I have to say I'm impressed with the quality and the weight! I got the 29er version because I needed the extra axle to crown length to make up for my frame that is designed for a 100mm fork. I think I came up 5mm's short, but whatever.

With the steerer tube uncut, it weighs 2#s. I can't say how it rides yet since I haven't built my bike. But on a Ti frame, I think the contrast would look awesome!

I ended up with the CarbonCycles carbon rigid. Awesome fork (though admittedly I have only about 40 miles on it). Comes in around 1.8 lbs and has a little brake flex, but nothing too noticeable.

Pretty much all carbon rigid forks come from the same catalogue, except for the On One carbon rigid, which is a different design and much more solid (and also heavier).

As for a the J&L stuff, I've seen a few and briefly owned a ti seat post of theres. The key word being 'briefly' as the thing was bendy, very bendy. I weigh less than 200lbs geared up and I still managed to break it (sorry, no pics), replaced it with a Bontrager carbon post which I still have.

I surely would not trust my teeth to one of their forks.
