Jelm Mountain - Trail, Laramie, Wyoming

Jelm Mountain - Trail, Laramie, Wyoming

DESCRIPTION

This is a spectacular 5 1/2 mile 2,000' climb that rises over the plains and river valleys like a hot air ballon. When the road is rain washed, some steep sections can be a bit technical (loose rocks and gullies). The University of Wyoming observatory is at the top. The return wrist numbing descent is a blast. Wear a heart monitor and watch it melt down!

It's not "really" mountain biking, but you need a mtb to ride it. At times it's a good gravel road, but the propensity of washouts and loose rock make it interesting. It's a great aerobic workout and a great view. About an hour up, about 7 minutes down.

I think this ride is worth at least three stars for
aesthetic and aerobic reasons. I love this ride!
