Evergreen Park - Trail, Sheboygan, Wisconsin

Evergreen Park - Trail, Sheboygan, Wisconsin

DESCRIPTION

The trail is mostly singletrack and can be ridden in many different ways. It is made into a 5 mile loop for the Bud Light Challenge, each October. There are organized rides on most Wednesday late afternoons. The trail on the quarry side can be wet in the spring and summer. A nice mix of climbing and descending. New bits of trail are added each year. Most of the upkeep is done by the Fat Kats bike club. Very nice trails for being in town.

This has been my mountain biking home for the last four years. More technical then neighboring Greenbush trails, Evergreen park has descent flow, a few technical climbs, and a nice variety of scenery. I am a freerider from Vermont and became a cross country guy after moving to Wisconsin. It would really make me happy if Evergreen was able to feature some bermed riding and a few jumps here or there. Overall, I feel pretty lucky to have this park in my backyard. You can put together some pretty nice rides. THIS PARK IS GREAT TO RIDE BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER the Sheboygan feature in the Wisconsin Off Road racing series. The trails are prime!

i reciently havnt seen the trial...an aug. 16th review said that the pulled out the roots from some of the single track... i grew up in sheboygan, riding just about everyday i had time. id have to say the difficulty level is at a beginner level. all decents are short, climbs are moderately steep, but short... it still makes for good amusement when theres nothing better to do, but if your in the area id have to reccomend the greenbush trails just off of highway 23... 20 west of sheboygan. there are some half decent trails that just split off the main trail, but all very short. the only nice thing about evergreen is that there isnt alot of traffic to deal with, and there are alot of trails that split off.. good for wasting an afternoon.

These are some fun trails but they are hard to follow. My one complaint is that the trails have too many off chutes and no organization to them at all. I spent the first hour just trying to figure out where the trails were and how they ran. Need some signs too and a map would be nice.

Customer Service

Park at the Quarry lot and go to your right and then come back and go under bridge and find your way.

This area used to be awesome for a city park in Wisconsin. With new trails added regularly , its was always fun and as challenging as you wanted to make it. But Recently I've noticed trails that used to be true single track turn into roads. On Wed. August 12th or 13th someone decide roots were no longer important to mountain bike single track or the trees that created them. In one area on the South side of the river, the roots were cut out and the trail was made nice and smooth, kind of like the plank raod trail. This area alway used to be a highlight for anyone wanting real single track. This and the removal of any log jumps or other technical obstacels has started to degrade the experience. There is plenty of gravel and paved trails in the park and any state park so leave the true single track alone please. Lets keep all single, single.

I rode this trail for the first time just a few weeks ago in the Bud Light Challenge, and it was a blast! it is connected with some other trails and parks too. It has a farily smooth surface, some roots, and a few steep climbs, which are followed by fun decents.

I live very close to the area so I know what I'm talkin' about. Of all the trails I've ridden, this is probably the most fun. It's not too technical, and there are lots of different ways to go. If you get too hot while riding there's always the quarry that you can swim in, too.

Longer climbs, not much technical. ALWAYS muddy as a swamp (it IS on the river). sections behind Quarry are rather flat, but have more technical sections. Disk brakes are a plus (mud mud mud). I ride these when I don't have time to go else where, Nice and close to food/convieniance marts/ and everything else in town.
Bring disks and mudders

Nice technical singletrack trail system. Fat Kats do an awesome job with the trails. Ride for the WORS race each year. Glad to see they haven't tamed the trails down too much so it's fun for the technical guys as mountain biking should be. Great to see a community that supports mountain biking year round, not just when we come to town to spend thousands of dollars on race day.

Raced in the Bud Light Challenge for last 2 years. Finally got a chance to go ride for fun in late October. Variety of the trails is great. Singletrack is very fun $5 hill is a great technical climb. Something for every rider level. The only downside is that there is not more of it.
Take a day and ride here in the morning and head to Greenbush for the afternoon. It is worth the trip!
