Herb Parsons St ate lake - Trail, Memphis, Tennessee

Herb Parsons St ate lake - Trail, Memphis, Tennessee

DESCRIPTION

The trail starts on the leeve of the lake on the right side of the park looking at the lake. It is a all single track lap very tight in places, very techniclal for Memphis. The trail will stay pretty muddy after a good rain. There is a word of caution to stay on the trail and not wander off onto the archery range for obvious reasons. The trail is easy to follow in most places, you will leave the woods one time back onto the blacktop take a left here go 40 or 50 yds and reenter the woods. Lots of fun and lots of posion ivy so enjoy

Good trail. Rides well. Best thing about this trail is that it is fast. Good general trail, nothing to get excited about... it is in west tennessee after all.

Customer Service

Go counter clockwise. start going over the levee

For the area, it is a great trail. It can challenge advanced riders by being mildly technical but fast and it can also be a great novice trail for those looking for something a little more challenging than the Tour de Wolf. I usually do two full laps. The trail had some serious damage early this year (tornado??) but some very giving people have rebuilt and rerouted the trail and improved what was already an awesome trail.

Customer Service

Counter clockwise like most have said. I take the extension loop and usually do two laps. I average around 45mins per lap. It is such a great place to do some time trials. I LOVE HERB'S.

Harvester Park in Lakeland is a fun, even more techincal short trail. Great if you've only got 30 mins to ride. Probably has the steepest short climbs in the area.

Trail is in pretty good shape right now. It has a recent addition bringing it up to around 7 miles. Go down and behind the dam on the right and then stay right for the added distance. Nice ride with lots of opportunities to go fast. A few logs to ride around, or over, might slow some down. A few jumps or climb down areas to deal with as well. I haven't noticed much poison ivy on the trails (use germ-x on exposed skin as soon as I'm done just to be safe). Watch out for ticks though, bad this year.

Customer Service

Start off down the dam or behind it on the right. Want more trail, stay right. Want less, stay left.

Moderate single track trail through thick forest surronding lake.Very curvy with small hills. The trail is in great shape and a fun ride.Takes a couple of days to dry after a good rain and as of the middle of May the poison oak is taking off and by fall i could only imagine how bad it will be.Shorts not recomended after april.I am suprised this trail is not more popular or maybe its that i go during the middle of the week.

Customer Service

Either way. There are some off shoot trails that will always bring you back to the main trail.Trail is very curvy and sometimes disorienting but you are always close to the lake and you will basically be doing a loop around it.

Overall, a good trail to ride. We rode the trail for about six miles. The trail has a lot of poison ivy and roots, and a lot of moderate inclines and twists. About a 20 minute ride from the Memphis City Limit. The trail is cut back in most places, although i still got poison ivy, and the roots are marked with yellow paint in the beginning. If you like a bunch of curves, you'll like this dirt trail.

Customer Service

We rode counter-clockwise from the parking lot, but do not have a preference.

we are ODD out of okc and we need a ride going through the memphis area. the three of us hit this trail and rode it both ways, teh trail.I think one would get fairly fast after a couple of laps and getting the rythem of the place. The place is nice and clean and nice views of the lake- you just float around on a carpet of pine needles about thirteen miles if ridden both directions. A local bike store worked said this is his hfav in the m-town area.
ride on.

Good ride. Quick in spots. Fun technical spots. Great scenery and the dog loved it. Bit confusing toward the end(going counterclock). I would recommend both ways a couple times. I think I like it better than Bartlet??

located just outside memphis, Tn. it is a single track that traces the outer edge of the lake. it has very little elevation change but it does have some technical areas. lots of logs to cross. it looks like it has been taken care of latley. weeds have been trimmed, but you should still beware of the poison ivy. check my gallery for a google arial view with gps map over layed.
