Greene Mtn. Trail - Trail, Greeneville, Tennessee

Greene Mtn. Trail - Trail, Greeneville, Tennessee

DESCRIPTION

Classic SWEET Tennessee intermediate/advanced ride. Intermediate fire road road climb with plenty of scenery and views if you stop for a break. Once the actual singletrack trail is reached, plan on smiling the whole way down. It has some easy, fast rolling sections, steep rocky switchbacks, and much more. The only down side if at all is a 50yd hike-a-bike up a really steep nasty section. If you can ride it though, more power to ya!!! (E-mail me for local riders award) The last 5 miles you don't even really have to pedal. No matter what reviews people give below, I guarrantee, you'll love this trail! Even if, you can't ride the rocky switchbacks, there's all different types of downhill fun!!!!

First of all, take a map with you when trying to find where the trail starts off of Viking Mountain Rd. I missed it the first time and went down the wrong trail, but that was my fault, I went without a map (something that should never be done in the mountains).

The trail itself has HUGE potential. But now in the early summer the trail is overgrown so bad that at times I couldn't even see the trail. The was everything from Rhododendrons smacking my face to Bramble bushes scratching up my knees. Without the vegetation it would be a sweet trail. In fact I had a blast on the lower half which was in pretty good shape.

There were also two big trees that had fallen down across the trail, but that is normal here in the mountains.

I talked to the Forest Service and they said that the Greene Mountain Trl. was on their list for planned trail maintenance this summer, however they couldn't give me a time frame.

So to anyone wanting to ride this trail, wait until the Forest Service is done with their maintenance, or ride it in the winter before all the vegetation gets so bad. If you want to ride it now, at least wear pants.

I give this trail a 3/5 for it's potential and beautiful setting.

Go up Viking Mountain Rd, stay straight on one of the switchbacks onto FS 358. Stay on it till you get to a 4-way intersection (Kennedy Cabin is straight). Take a left onto Greene Mountain Trl (there is no sign at the moment). You'll come to your first little split, stay left (primitive campground is on left, its a big open area, you'll see it). At the second fork I recommend you stay right. You can go left too, just make sure you don't get off the Trl, because there are a couple of other paths going off of it.

AWESOME single track!!!! Great views. A nice climb to start. Some rolling climbs and quick descents. Topped of by a killer down hill at the end. A good fire road cool-down at the end. A perfect example what of a mtn. bike ride should be

This trail is sweet. Any weenie can do the climb. I learned how to mtn. bike on this trail (although, I strongly suggest beginners not ride this) I used to ride this trail every week when I lived closer to Greeneville back in high school (We're talkin primitive mtn. bike days) Now, I wouldn't think of taking a bike without at least frt. susp. on this trail. Anyways, all of what's mentioned in the first review is true. GO check it out for yourself!!!! (the trail, dumbass)

This is some pretty sweet single track. Parts of it can be rough and really throw you around, but if you like technical, you LOVE this trail. So far, I've ridden it five or six times (when I come to G'vegas on business. The first time was on my DeKerf hardtail; it scared the hell out of me in one section towards the end because I was flying to being with. The second time I rode the trail was on my dual suspension bike.....it was pretty sweet, but not entirely necessary. The few times, has been on my new Yeti; now I know the trail and can fly on all sections. Overall, it's a pretty killer trail. If you're in Greeneville, go check it out. Another cool thing is that Greeneville/Greene Cty. area has suffered MAJOR flooding. The mountains took a big hit as well. This trail is like the one thing that was untouched. The trail is indestructable!!! If anything, whatever water did go across this trail, only made it smoother or flow better to ride.

Warriors path is sweet.....the reviews on this site got majorly trashed by what sounds to be like a bunch of kids that are excited to learn some new cuss-words in school. READ the review by the anonymous guy...he has a really good point
