Cane Creek is a great place to teach new riders basic skills. It is also a fun place to get some enjoyable miles in while riding around a lake on wide, well kept trails. Be careful you are sharing trails with hikers and horses. Horses for the most part hate bikes so just stop and let them pass. They also leave "road apples" behind so stay alert or you may eat some when your knobbies grab a hold of some and throw it at your face. YUM! YUM!! Seriously this is a really nice ride especially in the fall during the mornings. Make sure you bring $3 to get your pass at the office or you wont be riding. Similar Products Used: Catawba |

I LIVE IN WAXHAW, JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES AWAY. LOADED THE DOGS UP FOR A LATE AFTERNOON RIDE. WRONG, THE PARK ONLY STAYS OPEN UNTIL 5 PM. WHO CAN RIDE THERE BEOFRE THAT. THERE IS A FEE OF $2 WITH A $1 FEE PER BIKE. THAT IS NO BIG DEAL, BUT THEY ACT LIKE THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR. SCREW THEM! GOT TO CATAWBA, IT'S FREE AND A BETTER TRAIL WITH OUT HORSES AND FOOTERS. THE PARK DUDE SAID THAT I WOULD BE TRESPASSING IF I ROAD THROUGH THE CAMPING SITE WITHOUT PAYING! THEY SUCK! BAD THING IS I LIVE JUST A COUPLE OF MILES AWAY. I'D GIVE NO TIRES IF I COULD. THIS PLACE SUCKS! I TRIED IT AGAIN, THIS TIME TREES WHERE DOWN FROM OUR BIG WINTER STORM. THE STORM WAS A MONTH AGO. I ASKED THE PARK GEEK, IF THEY KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT A MOUNTAIN BIKE. THEY JUST DON'T GET IT THERE! WE WANT TO RIDE OVER THAT CRAP! POST SIGNS SAYING THE PARK IS CLOSED IN THE SURROUNDING TOWNS. I WOULD HAVE BEEN TOTALLY CRAZED, IF I CAME FROM FAR AWAY. DON'T GO! THEY SUCK, IT SUCKS, ALL THE TREES FELL IN THE SAME DIRECTION....TOWARDS THEM BECAUSE THEY SUCK! THEY DON'T DESERVE A TIRE. Customer Service A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PLACE, THEY ACT AS IF THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR! BITE ME CAN CREEK! Similar Products Used: CATAWBA AND POPLAR TENT ROAD |

This trail system offers a little bit of something for everyone. It is easy enough for a novice rider and fast with a few technical spots to keep an advanced rider interested. Lacks enough challenge to be a daily ride trail but is great when your with a group that has varied skill levels Customer Service The Red Trail with a cutoff on the Green down by the Lake is a nice ride Similar Products Used: Francis J. This trail is great. It has everything from the beginner to advanced rock crossings. There are several rocky climbs as well as stream crossings. They also throw in a log bridge or two if you're so inclined to do them. The muddier it is the better. Watch out for the horse poo! Customer Service We usually start out on the green, to blue, to purple to red trails. It seems to go on forever. Similar Products Used: Ann Springs, Beech Springs aka Poplar Tent (technical) |

I'll start by saying this is my wife's favorite trail. Her Trek hardtail eats it up. AND - if the wife likes the trail - it ultimately means she won't object to YOU buying more $tuff for your bike! Excellent trail for novice riders to develope speed and strength with that mtn bike feel of rocks, roots and dirt. Races are held here due to WIDE trails and fast runs. There are a few shallow creek crossings and a couple more technical trails on the other side of the levee. Watch for horses and hikers. Overall, I've never wrecked here - so that lowers the score a few tires. This place doesn't offer much for expert riders other than speed. Scenery is beautiful. The park is very nice for a family day picnic. (bring a boat and fish) The ranger store sells food and drinks, there's a hose to wash the bikes and showers to wash you. If you have kids, bring the BMX bikes, they will love it and Mom won't fear broken arms. For families, kids and novice riders I give the park a five. For experts looking for a place to push your fear, I give it a three. The middle ground is a four Customer Service through Waxhal, Hwy 200 Follow signs. I enter the trail near the ranger shack and loop around. ($3 for a 'bike tag') Similar Products Used: Renaissance, Cataba River |

I rode 14.5 miles and found maybe a mile of singletrack. This trail is wide enough to drive an ambulance down it if you needed to. I was upset but I guess you live and learn. It wasn't a total wash, I still got in some miles. Customer Service Turn around and head to Catawba |

These trails were fun to ride. Not too hard so its good for all levels of riding. Nice and hardpacked. You can camp right off the trail which is cool but presents some problems of its own. This trail would get a much higher rating if it wasn't for the park staff. WARNING! Do not stay at county parks(like this one )! Stay at state or national parks. We camped for one weekend in June and were one of the few sites taken. We were harassed by staff the whole time and actually left a day early. We are not punks but mature adults who work for state and local governments. This was a highly stressful situation. COUNTY RANGERS MAKE THEIR OWN RULES! Do yourself a favor-don't camp here! Stay and ride at state or national parks where rangers are friendly and helpful. Similar Products Used: anything but here. try Uwharrie, its fun and pretty close. |
