Rode this trail as a tourist in Las Vegas and had a good time guided by Bobby from McGhie's. Trail is gravel and sand so wasn't a lot of traction like what I'm used to. Not a lot of hardcore technical riding but there were a couple of short climbs and a few rocks to roll over. Hard to tell distances etc if you're not used to the desert and the downhill portions went faster than what we would've guesses

scenery is pretty nice and different...supposedly there's wild horses and burros, but we didn't see any when were there in early April. Red Rock and mountains in the distance were really cool. Not sure we'll travel to las Vegas again, but if we did, we'd ride RR Canyon again.

Of special note --- we've had a few guides before when doing the ride while on vacation thing, but Bobby certainly distinguished himself as not just a really good guide, but also a patient teacher. He took his time and gave my wife some good riding tips (hhehehe...yeah, I know what you're thinking...) while I was able to ride with the faster riders in our group.

Customer Service

There are a few trailheads but the trails/turns aren't clearly marked. I wouldn't reccomend hitting this trail without someone who's been there before.

Use sunscreen...

I had a great time riding the trails in Red Rock! The trails are mostly well marked, and well ridden. The downhills can be quick and moderately technical. It is worth making the 20-30 minute drive out for the scenery and some very good riding trails.

I loved this trail. It has all kinds of beautiful views and was challenging. I ride twice a week and it challenged me. I also liked the fact that the trail changes as you go along. The first 8 or so miles was an ascent up the mountain and then there are great downhills that allow you to satisfy your need for speed.

Customer Service

I went with a guide, but I could see that it would be easily accessible if you live around the Clarke County (Vegas) area.

Between turista newbies taking a day off from the casinos and dickwad out-of-control Gen-X gomers, these "trails" are anything but fun. You'll have a much better time heading over to Boulder City instead. Red Rock area is the Calcutta of riding areas, there's more "people" (I use that term loosely, maybe "R. Crumb characters" would be more descriptive?) crowding these trails than you can possibly imagine. Frickin' BLM honchos are narc'ing the trails constantly, too. Not exactly the kind of ride you were looking for, eh? The place sucks tremendous weenie. Go to BC!

Very different from East Coast, so I like the trails. Comparitively smooth singletrack. Even saw wild horses! Picked up a map and rental from ETCS in Vegas (great shop). Did not feel that there was a lot of technical challenges on these trails but then that does not appeal to me much anyway. I like fast singletrack which there WAS plenty of!

Rode here for two days - favorite trail was Black Velvet - good technical trail, but very short. Otherwise, a lot of fast singletrack with cacti everywhere! No flats but don't fall off your bike.

Looked at the Pukester in Blue Diamond and rode part of the way up it but left it for another day at the end of the season when I am feeling a bit friskier - very steep and long.

Customer Service

Black Velvet (at the head of the B. Velvet Canyon) or the Pukester in Blue Diamond.
