DESCRIPTION

tuff ride thru piney forest near white suphur springs....90 mile to helena, 60 miles to bozeman

8 miles on hwy 12 from white suplur springs, 4 mi up dirt road to Grasshoppper Campground.

12 mi. loop w. 2880' gain or 6 mile loop with 1200' elevation change.

the 6 mi. loop on tr. 723 includes 2 mile section with lots and lots of deadfall. not really rideable.

Trail starts and end in CG.

best to consult book or trail map, as you could get lost and no-one would come looking.

starting at CG you ride up a FR for 2 miles to jct of tr.723. carry on up tr. 716 to saddle. descend and turn left on tr. 717.

this is a long steep ride, thru pines,2800' over 6.5 mi. rocky with cowpies. be prepared as you are not likely to see another soul.

signs at tr. jcts.

not sure why you would to ride this except that it is "there".

no a bad ride, but nothing spectacular to recommend it.
