quite a bit of trail packed in a small area.

ALL the good bits are in the little loops, concentrated on the eastern end of the trail. multiple creek crossings that probably requires dismount. lots of rocks and loose gravel. there's a little section next to the red loop (runs along the river) that's probably built for hiking, and is very technical or unridable, depending on your point of view.

once outside these loops the trails are flat and fast. runs along a river so it can be very relaxing.

not a bad trail overall.

Customer Service

start off on the west side trail head (not very well marked so you have to look for it), ride the smooth sections for warm up, ride all the loops and repeat as many times as you see fit, then ride back for warm down.

Lots of different terrain packed into a short-ish ride. Great fun for SS. Get's pretty muddy, but still fun and not very technical.

Customer Service

Every which way but loose.

i think this park and trail is a great for those who are needing to get out and have a good time. the flat trail follows the creek and the hills are a great work out. but not to bad for those who are not in the best shape and skilled.

Customer Service

does'nt matter where to start. the park workers told me they are working on and adding better markers for the trails . heres a link for the maps. .http://www.stccparks.org/qrmap.htm

"Why haven't I brought my bike out here before?" was what I found myself saying repeatedly as I rode the trails at Quail Ridge. Like a Castlewood for St. Charles County (CW River Scene & Stinging Nettle Trails, with a little Grotpeter thrown in for good measure). I gave it a 3 on aerobic, but you can make it more difficult by riding it faster ;-) It's not really technical, you can bomb down just about all the hills on the west side without fear of what you'll hit at the bottom. a very fun network of trails. the climbs are more technical than long. a lot of variety of terrain, and lots of sweet creek crossings and switchbacks to keep you entertained. a good trail to ride on a singlespeed on. a very impressive park on the whole. St. Charles is becoming its own center for riding now, what with This trail, Matson Hill, Lost Valley, and soon to have Klondike... totally sweet.

This trail was a lot of fun. There weren't any lung-busting climbs, but plenty of technical climbs. there are a lof of enjoyable creek crossings, and plenty of switchbacks. A good trail for singlespeeds, as i rode it on a SS having never done a SS ride before. I have to give "mad props" out to GORC for doing a great job with the trail, and the great work they've been doing with opening more and more trails in the st. charles area. St. Charles soon seems to be as good a place to ride by itself as the rest of st louis. The rest of the park seems to be really sweet too, what with the fenced area for dogs, the paved trail, and all the space that is available in general.

Customer Service

Having only ridden it once, I can't give a definite route, but there are plenty of interconnecting trails to keep you occupied (and happy). I say keep riding till you get hungry.

If you live in St.Charles County you have to check this trail out. Lots of work done recently by GORC to make this trail more rideable. Some switchbacks were redone and some trail was added to take out some intersections. The whole park is open now, so be sure you make it to the west end of the trail.

Customer Service

Out and back. Start at the east trailhead, first parking lot on you left, and hit all the loops as you ride west through the park. Turn around and retrace your ride back. Approx. 10 miles.

This trail WILL make you a better rider. This trail is not that physically demanding but it will put your technical ability to the test. It has some narrow, rocky, off camber sections and some real tight switchbacks. Plenty of creek crossings too. Don't miss the Ridge Loop, great views.

Customer Service

Just ride! There are trails on both sides of the bottoms area. Follow the trail along the creek to get to the other side. East side of park is pure single track, west side is a little wider and smoother.

Trailhead is illusive, didn't find the actual mountain bike trailhead till the end of the ride. Ended up riding a lot of the frisbee golf course trails (OK'ed by Park Ranger), and the old horse trails which are now bike/hike trails. Not a bad ride, not challenging, but good scenary. Lots of construction on back side of park, very messy due to rain. The trail itself is very over-grown, needs some traffic! Can't say much for the designated mountain bike trail, didn't have time to ride it after finding it. Decent ride for beginners, or someone looking for a nice relaxed afternoon. Park is going to be great when finished. Plan on riding the real trail soon and will review after.

Finally got a chance to ride this trail again. Look for trailhead immediately on your left as you enter woods from parking lot. Initial decent from parking lot is a lot of fun, very difficult shitchbacks. Trail is in great condition, very well maintained. Good ride, lots of challenges: rocky technical sections, smooth singletrack, speedy decents. I plan on riding this trail heavily since it is so close and convenient. Great trail for NW St. Louisans!

Customer Service

Not familiar enough with the trail to recommend a route.
