this trail is relatively easy. however, riding at race pace greatly changes the ride. there are both open fire roads as well as tight single track. this trail is pretty flat but a good workout as there are no breaks from pedaling. really good 10 miles of riding that is well marked. locomtb.com for races and rides here.

I've ridden parts of this trail many times, and I love it. From one direction it is well marked, but not from the other. But, for the most part it's easy to follow. The trail is packed into a relatively small area, so it frequently loops back itself. It doesn't get much use, so it's in fairly good condition. No major hills, but it's narrow with lots of very tight turns. Beautiful forest, lot's of big old pines and hardwoods. If you have time, spend the night in the campground or a cabin and go for a canoe ride, the lake is amazing.

A friend and I rode this trail after reading some of the reviews and talking to some locals. We were very disappointed! The trails are not well maintained and are not cleary marked in some locations. The "advanced" trail was a joke - nothing advanced at all. It had rained 3 days earlier and the trail was still very muddy! This will not be a trail I will ride again!

I rode this trail last year and really had a good time. It was hot and humid though so that always trashes any ride for me...I will be riding it again this November and looking forward to it and cooler conditions this time. I'll report what I find...Peace

A nice ride with not a lot of elevation change. Just opened so the dirt is still loose with a lot of pine straw. A lot of straight-away pipeline ride. But the singletrack is nice. An advanced rider might get bored. Nice scenary, though. Will not kick your ass like the Ruston Trail can. Hurt myself there.

Customer Service

Route starts at Swimming area ends just behind same parking lot. Easily found.

This trail is extremely flat and low, so during rainy parts of the year check with the park before before heading out to ride it.
The worst part is the very sharp turns that eventually become frustrating.
The trail is ideal for beginners, there are only a couple of places that may cause difficulties for riders that may be unexperienced.

Call the park ranger before you leave home. The phone number is 318-745-3503. I have tried to ride this trail several times in the last few months, and everytime the trail was closed due to muddy conditions. Hopefully they will redirect the trail around low areas. Otherwise, I predict this one won't be around for too long, b/c people will get tired of making the trip out there for nothing.

The trail is pretty flat, and the first few miles are great for older kids (they can ride it out and back a few miles); so the whole family can enjoy it.

Nice easy trail through forests surrounding Lake Bistineau. A fairly new trail so it is not worn in. The pine needles cover the trail and it sometimes hard to follow unless you are looking for the markers in the trees. You can't concentrate on riding because you are trying to find where to go next. Don't expect to go very fast because of the hundreds of sharp turns throughout the trail. I rated it lower because I am comparing it to the trails I have ridden all over. My girlfriend however found it to be fun but she is a beginner. If you are coming from the east don't waste your time and go to Ruston. From the Shreveport area go ahead and go on to Caney Lakes Recreation Area near Minden.

Customer Service

I rode it during the "Ribbon cutting" for the trail. It has promise. It needs to be worn-in and a few small trees that were left in bad spots need to be removed. Then the trail should flow better. I think if people will go ride it more it will turn into a pretty fast race corse. We'll see.

Customer Service

Started at the trailhead at the parking area.

I have ridden this trail every Sunday for a couple months now. I like it. Sure there are no hills or opportunity for "big air" but it offers quite a bit if tight, twisty, single track. The trail is great for beginners as well as advanced riders looking to work on speed, endurance, and bike handling skills. The trail is now VERY WELL marked and the most of the stumps in the trail have been removed and/or flagged. If you rode this one a few months back, come try it again, I think you will be surprised!

From Shreveport/Bossier City take I-20 East to the Haughton/Fillmore Exit. When you exit off I-20 take a right (south) and go about 150 yards to Hwy 3226 and take this highway to the intersection of Hwy 164. Take a right on Hwy 164 and go to Doyline. At Doyline take a right onto Hwy 163 and go approximately 6.8 miles to the second entrance to Lake Bistineau State Park. Stop at the Ranger Station for a map and to pay fees. Fees are $2.00/visit or $30.00 for a yearly pass. NOTE: You can rent bikes and cabins from the Park Service too!!!
