This was my first time riding this trail and the first time my seven year old was ever went off road. It was a bit much for him in several area, but he still had a good time. We will be going back soon. The trail was well maintained and the whole park was great. It has a pavilion and restrooms (clean too!) at the trail head. With the new connection to the Hooper trail you could spend the whole day out here.

I lived in New Orleans for 6 years, left in 2004 for Florida, a year before Katrina (yep, was very lucky). Owing mostly to the fact that the NO area is a swamp, Comite (and Hooper) were the closest MTB trails worth riding in the area. Comite is still among my favorites, and I have riden many places. It certainly is not unduly technical but the cypress knees can make you think a bit. What I most fondly remember is the speed that one could muster on one of the some of the runs, and the quick up's and downs. Spent many an hour at Comite and don't regret a minute.

Customer Service

Comite is great, but any route out of Louisiana is your best bet.

The trail is great for starters. It can be fast and has some technical sections if you leave the main trail. The sport expert section is short but fun, its not that bad just make yourself do it. Make sure you take the connection trail to hooper. To get to the connection trail go counter-clockwise and stay right till you get to the creek and there is a sign.

Went out today, March 11, 2005, and the trail was great. The nice thing about Comite is that you can get lost without really being lost. Sure, you might ride around in circles for a bit, but just work out which way it is towards the lake, and you're back in the game. The X Trail, River Run and Beach trail are all kick ass right now. I love Skidmark Drop, really woke me up for the first time in a few months. BRAMBA has done a great job with this trail.

Counterclockwise, and stay "in the red."

Rode Comite this past Saturday, 4/24/2004, with my son and we had a blast. Hats off to BRAMBA for the excellent trail maintance and first class facilities. There is a nice sign on the higway at the entrance to the parking lot, plenty of parking, a bike wash area, a covered picnic area with tables and benches, and best of all clean bathrooms. Their bulletin board in the parking lot displaying the map of the trail and other useful information is also first class and always up to date. The trail is very well marked with different colored arrows that designate the level of difficulty for each section. You can bypass harder areas by following the blue arrows or ride the expert trail by following the red arrows. There are also crossovers or bypasses designated with yellow arrows. Trail conditions were nearly perfect. Dirt was pretty well packed and there were only a few loose, sandy areas. One of the drops had a little water in the bottom of it and there were plenty of caterpillers in the trees. Seems like every tree you looked at had 20 or 30 caterpillers crawling around on it. They were even crawling around on my truck in the parking lot. It is supposed to be a bad year for them. Luckliy we didn't get stung by any of them. Otherwise the trail was perfect. They had even added a couple of sections since the last time I was there a few months ago. The total length of the trail is now approximately 5.5 miles. I rode it twice with my son and once by myself. It was his first mountain bike ride and my first ride on my new 2004 Jamis Dakar XLT 3.0 so we took it easy. He got tired out after two rides and I didn't want to push him. So I rode it again by myself a little faster to really see what the Jamis could do. It was a great ride. Bike performed flawlessly. My son said that he had a great ride and I think I have a new riding partener. I live in New Orleans so we don't get to ride the trail too often as it is about a two hour drive for us. But if you are in the area and get a chance to ride Comite don't pass it up. It is well worth your time.

Customer Service

Check the sign as you leave the parking lot on your way to the trail head. BRAMBA designates which way to ride the trail each month, either clockwise or counterclockwise. There is also a sign at the trailhead that shows which way is clockwise and which way is counterclockwise.

Very fun trail. It isn't very long, and I got turned around a few times, so I was hitting some of the same stuff over and over, but it was cool b/c it was fun stuff. After riding it for a while we went out to get oriented and look at the map. And realized we missed about a 1/3 of the trails. Do not ride the river run, i think, after a hard rain, and some of the downhills can get very slippery and dangerous because of the clay. This trail isn't a cross-country one, but it defintely is a fun change of pace.

Customer Service

Just ride around for a while, the trails are marked but it still is confusing for a first timer, I finally figured out where everything was at the end of the day. All the red trails are fun.

Was in town for xmas. Everyone i talked to said skip hooper and hit comite, so thats what we did. Best way to describe this trail: Giant BMX trail for mountain bikes. Awesome place to ride my new Azonic DS-1. Tons of jumps, drops, and banked corners to fly out of.

Customer Service

hit everything.

I rode Comite and Hooper for the first time this weekend. I usually ride Lincoln Parish Park 1-2 times a week. I wasn't very impressed with Hooper but I really like Comite. It is a fast rolling course that is well maintained and marked. The course flows extremely well. No big climbs or drops like LPP but a very good course. If it were a little closer I would make it a regular ride.

I try to ride the whole thing each lap, almost like the race course goes. The "X" trail is the most fun. It's like a roller coaster on a bike. There's more log crossings now too. Good drops, rooty technical sections. More fun than the "Hooper" side. (not as rough) This use to be a dirt pit or sand pit for BREC, so there are lots of large holes to build trails around. The trail manager has done a great job by adding as much as possible to the system. New trails are added each year. They are done in a way to increase the mileage, not be a separate trail. Lot's of Mosquito's though.
There is a parking lot past the gate now. Water has been added, with a bike wash station. Port-a-potties are on site too.

Customer Service

Most people ride this trail clockwise.
