Randolph ORV - Trail, Randolph, Kansas

Randolph ORV - Trail, Randolph, Kansas

DESCRIPTION

This trail is popular for it's jeep and dirtbike trails but don't let that get ya down. This place is UNSANE for biking. Trails are steep, rocky, off-camber, and may include drops from 1 to 8 feet. This place is where you can test your ability and is not for the lame. Ride with suspension and a helmet. Prepare to crash. It's funnest to group ride this place and explore the trails while pushing your own limits.

I've read reviews on other trails and they say that trails that are for all skill levels or beginner type trails will "bring enjoyment" to even highly skilled riders. Let me tell ya that driving a long time to ride a boring trail is not fun! This trail can be enjoyed by all levels: beginners walk a lot or learn quickly; intermediates have fun; and experts will truly appreciate a real ride in KS. Let this place give you a real idea of extreme. (Riding over 4 foot high log piles is not extreme, sorry). It is worth the drive from anywhere is KS.

I used to ride this trail back in college but I wanted to tout this as a great destination when I saw this site. Weekdays are often quieter but you always have to listen for the ORV riders. Groups are great and if you have the talent, head for the perimeter where the ORV crowd seldom goes and find the sweetest singletrack, ups, downs, off-camber, roots, logs, rocky switchbacks. The hill climbs are typical of Kansas, short but killer steep (I've seen dune buggies backslide on them). Beginners can always stick to the access roads, but I don't think a total novice would have as much fun.

My favorite half was the south half where the trees are thick and the trails narrower. We always got lost though, so I can say exactly what route to take. One day we discovered the old highway from before the reservoir was built. It was buried under a log jam of driftwood though and not rideable by mere mortals. Although the bowls has more whoop-de-doos per square foot, this place is your epic ride destination.
