Lake Lou Yeager trail system - Trail, Litchfiled, Illinois

DESCRIPTION

The new trail at lake Lou Yeager is open. We have 1 mile of flowing singletrack with many more miles to come. LLMBC.com is my bike clubs site and I try to post workdays there. If you live in the area please come check out this new trail. GORC( ST. Louis mt bike club-gorctrails.com) has done the design work and we have lots more to do fall of 05 and winter of 06. We would like to get 6.6 miles in this first section to tie in with our proximity to Route 66. Come ride our trail and enjoy our lake!

It is a pretty smooth flowing trail that has several connecting points along the paved road. However, the connections are not well marked. It took me a bit to find the rest of the trail after the initial trail head section. The trail is not very technical, but is well constructed and fun to ride.

Customer Service

Going from picinic area 3 towards the boat launch is pretty fast and easy. The other direction is a little bit of a cardio workout. I suggest going from picinic area 3 down and back.

The first mile is completed! I have worked for the last year on making this trail system a reality and I am porud to say that those who have ridden it are very happy with the flow. There are some moderate hills to get the heart rate up and some good drop in downhill sections. This is an intermediate level trail at most so far. Technical sections will be built into the coming miles. This first section consists of 3 loops linked by a spine just below the main road. The first loop is behind picnic area 3, the second loop is just south of this- the second loop comes out onto the spine trial to get you to loop 3. Loop 3 has a really fun drop in from the main road area and some rolling whoops. The climb out is a gradual climb. Since this is short( only 1 mile so far) you can ride the loops counter clockwise and then ride them clockwise to add so more miles. Please do not stray onto any horse trails if you go exploring. Check out LLMBC.com for upddated trail info!

Start at Picnic Area #3 going counter clockwise (trail head is to the left of the picnic pavillion about 100 feet from the parking lot),then do loop 2 and 3 counter clockwise for the best downhill ride and reverse to get your uphill wokout in.
