This is a very handy trail and one of the best ones in Hawaii, especially if you are staying in Waikiki. I did not have a car during my stay, so to get to the trail I had to peddle to the trail from Waikiki for about 40-45 minutes, and out of that, 30 minutes up a fairly steep hill (St. Louis Drive). You can also take transit, bus #14, but if you need a good cardio workout, stick to grinding your way up.
The entrance to the park is off Ruth Pl. which is at the end of St. Louis road. When you are at the parking lot, look to your left. You will see a shelter by which all the DH trails start. As the main trail starts, slightly to your left, there is another trail which starts with a steep drop and than a steep descend. The main trail starts with a fairly rooty area which goes into a jump area and from there on it continues downhill. I did enjoy bumping over tree roots since where I live there is nothing similar. The main trail has few sharp switch over’s, tall grassy area, rocky descends and there is a beautiful view of Waikiki from many points.
If you enjoyed your first ride take the bus back or grind your way back up. If you are taking a bus to get up here first time the fare is valid for 2 hours.

I've been lucky and have only ridden it dry so far and it rocks. Something for everyone. Kind of short (longest route is 1.3 miles, if you bomb down the singletrack, ETA 10 minutes) but worth it. Ideal if you have a lot of people and switch of shuttle people tot he top. Can easily spend an entire day there trying the different routes. This trail allows you to improve you bike handling skills while not punishing you if you make a mistake. Nice views of town from some areas as well! Downhillers will love this trail!

Customer Service

At first intersection there are three choices:
Right-fast, steep, slippery, fun, downhill
Middle-Technical singletrack, shortest route
Left-Loops around toward bottom, fairly simple compared to other two

This trail is one of the best located close to the city. You can take the bus to the top and bomb down all day for free. Located near the University of Hawaii, with spetacular views of Waikiki, Manoa and other parts of Honolulu. Formally the site of the Grundig World Downhill Chanpionships.

Customer Service

There are several routes that can be taken.
Recently a new sections have been cut. These trails are highly technical.
As you decend through the roots section you come to a telephone pole that has a lightly used trail to the left and the main trail to the right. Follow the trail to the right.
Twist and wind for a short distance and there is another trail branching off to the right. Follow this trail to two jumps.
Desend some more and the trail again forks. Take the trail to the right. From here it gets technical, with big drops and lava field boulders to manuver over. It is great fun and well worth the bruises

Once you leave the park you enter a wide path that has roots all over the place. Some small and big. The trail becomes a gnarly singletrack that swoops in and out of cut down trees and sharp turns. Just after the second left you come up on two jumps. Then the trial has drop-offs galore until you reach the bottom. If you not going mach-1 at any given moment check out the scenery, great pic' opportunity's all over the place.

Customer Service

Start at the park and go as fast as you can till you come to the telephone pole. Oops did I mention all the roots and loose dirt. The trail splits at the pole and the trails to the left and middle are good but the BOMBASS singletrack is to the right. Every time the trail splits stay right. Watch for huge rocks and switchbacks. When you come to the paved road to the water tower go across it and continue on this trail till you reach dole st. RECOMMENDED THAT YOU HAVE 2 VEHICLES AND PARK AT BOTTOM AND SHUTTLE TO TOP, OR TAKE THE BUS, that works too.

St Louis has it all from mellow single track to mental drops.

Customer Service

Right at the telephone pole and either right to the two jumps or stay on the main trail to hit a new sic drop that connects up with the fenceline.
