The trails are all marked but don't make much sense; just go out exploring and you should find some fun stuff. There are some fun big dips and dirt jumps to play around on, as well as some fairly technical climbs and descents (moderately rocky). It doesn't seem all that long, but it's a pretty fun place.

Anyone who lives in Delaware knows just how flat it is. I live in Dover so it's a minimum 45 minute drive to the closest mountain biking at Iron Hill. All I can say is that it's worth it! It's another 15-20 minute drive to the 120 miles of awesome trails at Fair Hill. But, when you only have a few hours after work, riding Iron Hill is better than spending time driving in traffic. There's plenty of great single track and jumps to keep your heart rate up for that afternoon adrenaline rush. Stopping off at McGlynn's Pub on the way home is a must.

From the south, north on Rt.1 to 896. North on 896 then left on Old Balt. Pike, Right on Whitaker (road after the museum) then rt. into the park. You can access the trails from any of the parking lots but avoid the single men sitting in cars. It is a known pick-up spot for the "altenative" life style.

Iron Hill is a great trail for someone who wants a little bit of everything. Things here in Delaware are not as hilly as neighboring PA, but Iron Hill has some nice decents. Most of the park is tight singletrack. I go there more than any other place, because all the trails wind around each other and connect at many points. That way to ride alot, you dont have to be 20 miles from your car when you are finished riding! Most of the trails are encompassed within trees, so it is a nice little get away from UD, where I go to school. Also, if you enjoy rocks, this is the place to go(it wasnt called IronHill for nothing!) Happy trails.

Just had a race there this weekend. The race course was very fast with some really nice downhills and some really fast singletrack. It was set up so well. There are some really fun whoop-de-do's and a lot of other fun to be had. Wouldn't call it rocky but then again I am used to Northeast rocks. Go there if you wanna go fast.

This is my favorite place to ride. I have ridden all of the trails reviewed in Maryland and Delaware and some of the trails in Pennsylvania and this place, in my opinion, is the best. There are alot of trails in a small area which means there is a wide variety of riding and you are never too far away from your vehicle if you break. Alot of good, tight singletrack, long low grade downhill/uphill sections and some steep down and ups that will totally blow you away. Roots and rocks galore...very challenging. The trails are maintained beautifully by a local club (the Delaware Trail Spinners, I think) and are generally pretty dry (no stream crossings). It is a 45 minute drive for me but it is worth it. Give it a ride!

Don't come here it's horrible! The worst trails around in the whole area. The trails are clay and you can never ride them. There is just basically like two trails that go in a big circle up and down the hill. When you get to the bottom nice I95 is there to greet you.
Well if that isn't enough, check the News Journal from about a month ago. Cops staked out Iron Hill and arrested somewhere around 20 men, for lude acts, #1 gay spot in the state. Literally!

I suggest you go to the brandywine river. There is a lot more variety of trails, and there is tons of them that go for miles you just have to find them.

Of all the trails in DE Iron Hill is the bottom on my list. I like going for long distances without having to cross over the same trail several times. Iron Hill is one hill. You will be riding up and down it all day. You wont get any mileage out of the place unless you double up on some trails. If you want to be close to the car at all times Iron Hill is great. If you just want to goof off its also very fun. Those of you who have ridden here know what I mean. (The Mega Dip) Just watch out for the trollers.

Iron hill is a one shot deal. You start at the top of a hill and there are a couple of trails that basically go straight down the mountain. Iron hill is not anything it is made up to be. The trails are wide, unclean and go straight down the hill to I95. At the bottom there is a old service road that goes around the hill. Once you are on the service road you basically just look for another trail going straight back up. There is no fast turning singletrack like people say. It is just basically a one shot straight down ride that takes only a few minutes. Once your at the bottom you have to go all the way back up. The only interesting thing about iron hill is the area where they used to mine at the top. Here there are some small jumps and dips that you can amuse yourself on for a few minutes.

if you want to experience one great dip, this is your place! But that is it, one Mega Dip, do it 2-3 times, pack up your gear and go home. It is a 50 minute drive from Dover and it's really not worth it.

Anyone who says the trails here go down a hill & up the other side, need to ride it a bit more....I agree this a a small park that is a hang out for gay's. The trails here are close together and there is an apx 5 mile main loop w/ many side trails. This is a great trail to ride when it rains and all the other trails are to muddy to ride, as Iron Hill never really gets muddy, the trails are hard w/ a rock base.
I ride here only ever other month or so as it does become boring to ride the same area over & over, but I would recommend riding here if you havent before, lots of fast & winding trails, short & steep downs & some near impossible short ups.
