Wadsworth Falls - Trail, Middletown, Connecticut

Wadsworth Falls - Trail, Middletown, Connecticut

DESCRIPTION

Fairly easy riding, good area for beginners. The Laurel Brook trail is great, and the Little Falls trail is the most challenging- steep switchbacks downhill, a creek crossing, and then a tough climb back to the main trail. These two will keep intermediate-advanced bikers entertained for early-season warm-up rides. Most of the other trails are basically rocky double-tracks.

These are cool trails. While they're not very challenging from a technical standpoint they're fun, and allow you get an aerobic workout and practice your cornering skills on smooth, twisty trails. It's also a good place for a mellow recovery ride, or a family ride, and I sometimes come here for an hour to warm up before the Tuesday ride at Middlesex. There are a few steep hills that will challenge your power and climbing skills. Some of the best trails are unmarked and not on the map. These trails are also very well maintained. Blowdowns are usually removed quickly, and mild but fun rock and log rides are continually being built. It skews toward the novice to intermediate end, but an advanced rider can have fun here to. Great place for a singlespeed/full rigid type of bike.

Customer Service

I usually start at the main lot, ride the purple trail up to the yellow, take that either all the way to the blue (when it's dry), or to the unmarked single track about halfway up. Then I take the white down to the orange, through the gravity cavity, and head south on orange, up the blue, right on red, back out to orange. Then I head south again on orange and take the unmarked singletrack down to the blue, right on blue, south again on orange. I take the orange over the plank bridge and go left into the woods onto the unmarked singletrack. At this point directions are hard to give and you need to do some exploring. There are a few good trails in there, some marked and some not. If you follow it all the way you come out again on the orange trail (really a carriage road) at the the southern end of the park. Head north on the orange, then left on red through the little falls. Watch out for hikers, equestrians and dog walkers, espescially on the red and orange trails.

One of my friends brought my cousin and I to Wadsworth yesterday. I'll be back there. It's a pretty cool place. The hill on left of the Little Falls is great. Just look out and don't ride off the edge if you're coming to it from above (rather then the trail that comes in from the side.) There's some good trails that are a little hard to find. Yeah, they're legal, marked trails, just not used too much yet this year, so they're a bit overgrown. Usually the riders hack out the thornbush overgrowth, but we were walking/dragging through it yesterday.

Ridden one time. Way too many hikers. trails were very smooth, if you ever get a chance to ride. Most hikers I ran into were very unfriendly, and unobliging to trail courtesy. Not the place to go if you want to leave the attitudes behind.

This really isn't a very difficult trail system, and it does get very crowded during weekends. However, this is a fun place to ride if you're not looking for very technical terrain AND if you go during the week or on a cloudy day, when the crowds are not so big.

Customer Service

Just follow the main trails.

I only ride this when I'm riding with newbies as it is a real easy and not any kind of a challenge. But for an easy ride with kids even, this will be a good place to go. Go during the week to avoid the crowds. You can even park at the end of the trail down by the big falls.

Customer Service

The liitle Falls trail is probably about the best here.

This is not very good except if you are going with your whole family. its a good starting place worth 2 stars

Customer Service

Go off every turn possible to make this a better ride. Some of the back trails are so-so. What is fun is for your last run get to where you go down the hill to little falls or whatever its called and instead of going down to little falls go toward the main parking lot with as much speed as possible and hit air toward the end of the main trail. WATCH OUT FOR OTHERS!!! this is the most popular trail.
