Meshomasic - Trail, Glastonbury, Connecticut

Meshomasic - Trail, Glastonbury, Connecticut

DESCRIPTION

Fun and challenging ride with several climbs and descents. Tough stretches of singletrack. A couple technical climbs. Couple of fun descents. A few very technical areas. Parts of the trails are pretty tough. Easy to get lost too. The ride feels much longer than the actual distance ridden because of the climbing.

The ride is fantastic if you are bumpy dirt road/rock fan, but seriously; going there at night is not recomended.

I'v driven through at night, and it's so frekin scary. KKK meetings also have been happening there lately at night, so be careful.

There are no maps or "trail-boards" at the parking lot, so pay attention during your ride! From the lot we took the middle trail which was a twisty, rocky semi-technical climb UP. At the top stop for a sec and catch your breath...'cause the decent back was one of the best CT. drops down ever. Lots of switchbacks and large rocks to deal with! Very fun decent. It was only 1 hour or so, but it seems there are other options near the swamp/pond that's about 10 mins. further down past the powerline lot. Very good workout with technical climbs and decents.

the powerlines on the left side of birch mountain road ride about 10 15 feet and there will be a little single track trail to your righ you will probally be able to see it from the road, take the blue-white trail (note: whit is painted over the blue both colors should be visible or you are on the wrong trail) after a couple of miles you should hit a blue and white switch-back; it turns into a blue trail if you keep going straight if you want to switch back at the end of the trail make a u turn to the left and back track if you keep going on the blue trail you will come to a double track take a left and follow the blue trail till you come to a creek and a bridge you can take a right wich leads back to the power lines about 5 miles long if you cross the bridge you should see a trail on the side of a dirt road take that trail keep straght and bear right when you come to the fork both ways lead to the power lines then take a left to get back to birch mountain road or go left for a few yards and turn right there the blue trail is if you have ne ?'s email me at skimaster85@aol.com and yes i am the "SKIMASTER"

These trails are crazy! Very very technical. If you like extreme decents then this is the place for you. Also the powerlines trails are great there is a dh part that is about 3miles long! If you plan on coming here bring a friend you could get lost. There are lots of climbs and decents. If you fall your screwed! I feel down once there and it hurts! There are sooooo many rocks . Bring some body armor if you dont like getting hurt.

This place is a great place to go. It has everything you could ever ask for in a ride. There are killer hills and awesome downhills. It gets pretty techincal and there are a lot of different trails to take. You could be out there forever if you want or just take a short trip. One thing though, watch out for the "Manson Downhill". This thing is long, steep, rocky, and scary as hell. Go searching and try to find it, if you dare.

Customer Service

Just go all the way down Birch Mountain Road and find a trail head.

There are so many trails out there, ranging from fast fire roads, to wicked technical singletrack. A few new trails have just been cut, but are almost imposible to spot unless you know were to look. There are trails in East Hamtpon, Portland, and Glastonbury all within this huge forest. Lots of all around great riding, so have fun, and get lost for a few hours!

Customer Service

Park on the side of the dirt service road that goes through the forest. Pick a trail that goes off the road, and go! You can get on the road from; Clark Hill road in East Hampton, or Dickenson road in Glastonbury.

These trails are awesome. There are so many of them you can take an endless amount of routes. The technical stuff is great and on some trails you can just use all out speed. You have to ride it to believe it!
