New Telluride Mountain Village Bike Park! - Trail, Telluride, Colorado

DESCRIPTION

The Telluride Mountain Village has just approved a new and free bike park that will utilize the already in place gondola system to get you to the top of the mountain. The plans call for 3 - 4 miles of intermediate to expert terrain, with roughly 4 to 5 trails including bailout lines for some of the more difficult obstacles. The old 2002 World Cup trail will be among the first to open as construction is slated for late July 2009. The hope is to have trails open as early as August. The local community is very excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to getting shovels in the ground. The mountainbike park in Telluride is pretty fun. I went there over the summer and had a blast. If you have a bike and gear already you don't have to pay a dime to ride the trails. Although there is not a huge selection of trails it's still pretty fun to ride for a day or two. There are easier intermediate singletrack trails and then there is the world cup trail and a couple other black/double black daimond trails with plenty of drops and jumps. The drops range from a couple feet tall to big road gaps. And there are a few very fun jumps and hips. If you like downhill, freeride, and singletrack riding you will enjoy these trails. And if you're more of a xc rider there are lot's of other trails around the mountain.
