The vast majority of these reviews don't even cover the true potential of this trail!

Straight forth, the trail is nuts! All of the weight weenie XC guys who take the fire road down to the fast run, miss out on the true potential of the trail. towards the top of the first fire road, there is a section near a big rock that will take you down a very well routed Freeride set ups, quite a few drop offs, nuts jumps, huge rocks, bolders, step ups, tables, gaps, you name it! completely crazy... definately a good training ground for freeriders and even for DH runs.. eventually, the end of the (World CUP) freeride ends at a fire road, go left and stay on it to you come to triple fork in the road.. go straight to catch a pretty fast DH run, or hit more single track that still has pretty crazy jumps, and then hit the ending Dh trail...

The down hill section of it is wide open, not too rocky so you can litterally fly down it! The road is pretty un even which makes it even more of a blast! ... racing down it is probably te best part of the trail, but watch out, because if you fall off the side of that part, its a very VERY! long and steep drop to the bottom...

the great thing about this trail is its adversity. a trail for everyone with race stripped XC to full out DH rigs... you can have fun no matter what type of rider you are.

For DH/ Freeride/ take the harbison canyon exit, leave a vehicle there, and shuttle up to the top.. I forgot the roads, but its only like two or three turns. you actually have to go through some neiborhoods, until you reach Anderson street. Keep going past all the houses onto the dirt road, pass the two water tanks, head a couple miles up the road ( keep left), until you see this crap brownish rail area where everyone parks. rig up, and ride the fire road down.. you make a left turn right before this fancy gate on private property and decend down that. most of the fire road will be decending. and then you will have to briefly climb. Almost right at the climb look to your left and you will see an area where there should be bike tire marks leading to it next to a big rock... starts the trail head... enjoy your ride!

Well I live near this trail and ride it often with my friend who lives at the entrance of this trail. It is pretty basic at the beginning, just steap and a little sandy. Later on though it get technical because the trail has a lot of little cravices and you have to ride between them on thin pieces of dirt. Overall it has steapness, technical parts, little bunny hop jumps and a little ascending, but is one fun 8-9 mile ride.

Long awesome climb up, a few rocks here and there, but nothing that can't be rolled over with some doing. Good aerobic fun in general. Not nearly enough of a challenge to warrant a shuttle up, unless you just don't enjoy peddling a bike. The mesa has some cool, but short and technical singletrack. There as many or as few 2-3 foot wheelie drops as anyone could like. Lots to explore at the top and I haven't seen it all. A few cool granite rock sections that beg to be sessioned over and over. Great skills builder for a novice rider (me). Descending is quick with some tricky rocky and rutted (deeply rutted) sections. Might be a good idea to remember where the trail has fallen off the edge into the resevoir. It is a long way down. Good: Long interrupted ride. Options galore for the technical stuff (its there if you want it). Ruts and rocks. Aerobic difficulty porportional to the speed you ascend with. Awesome area. Bad: Snakes. Deep Ruts. Heat. Sections of trail missing near the 2nd shady area on the way up. Long fall from any point.

Finally got out to ride the Anderson Truck Trail after the fires (2 yrs later). Good news is the trail is in excellent shape, even after all the rains. Minimal ruts and loose sand - Almost all of the trail is rideable, but of course technical. We didn't know any better and took the old entrance point trail, through Bulldozer Bob's land and ran into the "Great Wall of Bofus". You can get around the wall, but there is a new access point a couple of hundred yards up the road - across from the "red, white & blue" propane tank. Good trail and training ride - recommended it.

I finally went out and checked out this trail. I didn't know what to expect since I've heard so much about the infamous steel wall and jerk property owner. Here's the deal- the trail is now rerouted on the other side of the canyon that now bypasses the steel wall. From here it's easy- short, mellow downhill to the climb. The climb isn't that bad-great view, variety of terrain, dirt, sand, rocks- most of the trail is severely rutted out from the rain- it makes picking your line more challenging on the way down. I only went up to the top of ATT, you could keep going up and further back in the mountains to eco challenge and world cup. There's a fun section of single track that hooks back into the main trail- a couple mellow 3-4ft rock drops, flowy singletrack. As for the rest, there is nothing too technical-it's fast- tons of deep ruts from the rain to check you speed a little. I'd definitely recommend this trail. It's not too far from San Diego- easy access and you can make a long or short ride out of it.

Customer Service

Just exit 8 at Habison canyon, go straight, make a left after exactly 1 mile and park next to overpass- follow pavement to trailhead off the left after a short climb. You don't need to go through that guy's property or go around any steel wall. I climbed it on a about a 43 pound freeride bike.

ANDERSON ROCKS! This was my first time riding ATT. I was very happy with the results and quality of the ride. Starts off as a fire road, and then turns into some nice wide single track. Most of the ride is DH. I was surprised how little dust there was, even riding behind other riders. There are lots of fun Dips and obstacles. The ride is SHORT only about 10 miles, take some time and check out the scenery. I have ridden Noble Canyon a few times and ATT is right up there in the fun factor and allot closer too. I did see a HUGE Wall blocking the very last part of the ride, no big deal just a minor inconvenience. There might be another way around “the wall" if you do some exploring. On the other side trials before the wall.

I did a Shuttle, if you are a crazy climber start at the bottom and extend your ride.

ATT was fun. Not exactly what I was expecting though. I thought it would be consistently technical. Riding World Cup was super technical (at least for me) and the rest wasn't that bad at all. There are a lot of cheater lines forming that are really messing up the trail and the hillside (especially with so little groundcover). If you're intentionally going to ride a technical trail, why ruin the trail for everyone else by damaging it if you can't ride it (all the walk-arounds and such)?

I have ridden this trail for 20 years. Long before any of you extreme enviromentalist's ever got involved with the "save the earth" from human recreation. There wasn't anything growing on the trail then and nothing growing now. Lets keep it that way.Just stay on existing trails without cutting thru newly burned areas and every one should be Just fine. Except for the enviro hippi that will cry about any form of recreation. This is our land, lets keep it that way.
