Other than South Mountain in Phoenix, AZ, Keystone is where I "cut my teeth" in the downhill world. I love the versatility of the mountain which offers great tech skills learning, and areas to rip fast and send long. I spend a 10 days in Colorado every summer, and have ridden Keystone multiple days, for the last 3 years. On the trail bike, the blues and greens are fun, and somewhat flowey, compared to desert riding.
The ONLY complaint I have is what someone already said: Money could be a phenominal trail, if the tables get some re-shaping. They could take a tip from Winter Park's table top construction. I fell in love with this trail, until I rode WP, then when I went back, I wasn't so happy. But, they have dine some really nice berm work!
All in all, Keystone is definitely worth the trip!

Keystone is a great mountain for all levels of riding. They do a great job mixing features such as bridges, rock gardens, wall rides, drops, berms, and jumps throughout the mountain. As another person said the people are very cool there. Workers on the mountain will always hook you up with a tube if you pop one and help you out. There are all types of trails including beginner trails through expert dh trails. I could ride Keystone forever. If you love Dh/FR riding, i know you will love Keystone.

Excellently maintained trails and world class gondola service for the bikes. Its intense in some places and easy enough for children to do in others (that is if they have a general knowledge of how to control a bike). East Forest's Corkscrew feature is cool. as. s....t..........

Fantastic place for technical DH with some skinnies.

For a downhiller:
Riding the top of the mountain (TNT/motorhead) is kind of lame. Rocky, some small 2-3 foot drops everywhere, nothing very exciting. Kind of old school DH, not much flow.

The bottom section is where it gets interesting. Even Flow/Wild Thing are fun on big bikes. There's some good turning drops and really tall wood sections. These make the area a place I enjoy going.

For the freerider: Everyone loves to talk about hitting the table tops on Money, but they really aren't very well built. It's a telling trail that's kind of a recurring theme on the mountain. The runs are a bit "classic" style and aren't super flowy.

Keystone will rock your world, I dont care who you are.

This place is great they have everything from some of the hardest downhill on earth to smoothe easy singletrack for beginners.

Now someone before mensioned the people there. He said they were pretty well all as**oles.

I disagree.

I was flying down a black, fell, and broke my collar bone. So me and my friend are sitting here in the middle of the mountain with our 40 pound rental downhillers (I have a badly broken collar bone, 5 inches seperated one side almost punctured my lung)
Here comes a group of what looked like very experienced downhill riders. The leader of the pack stops and ask if im allright. We tell him our situation and he leves his 4K downhiller on the side of the track and carries my bike up the mountain for me while my friend carries his. The bike is messed up to say the least. While im still in the hospitle another one of my friends takes it back to the bike shop and they gladly refund my money for the rental in spite of all the damage i did to the bike

as**oles?
I dont think so

Shure there are some stuck up guys everywhere, im not saying keystone is an exception but dont let a few bad apples ruin the barrel.

Keystone has stepped up the trail building. It has added several new trails including Motorhead and Paid In Full. Dont listen to people who say Keystone is chocked full of attitude. It isn't. The people are cool and the riders are cool too. Keystone hasn't fully brought the N. Shore to Colorado but It's trying. You might find interest in pics of these new trails in the Colorado Locals Forum. I can at least see major improvement in the effort put forth to draw MTB riders from all over to the Mountain. Keystone is leading the effort in Colorado to match some other resorts, but they have a long way to go. But in the Future, Expect greater things from Keystone.

Stay away from Cowboy Up and other blacks if you aren't riding a DH bike! On my first run I thougt it would be cool to hit some blacks. Dont get me wrong, on my little 4.5 " travel trail bike I could ride all the tech sections at the top, but the kids on their $4K DH bikes were jumping them and being a**holes if you werent riding like 30mph. I ended up cutting through the woods onto some blue trail and basically stuck to blues and greens for the rest of the day. Keystone is chock full of attitude, typical of summit county trustys with 4K or so to therow around on a bicycle. If you're not super hardcore, stick to the blues and dont look anyone directly in the eye.

Customer Service

All the blues and greens are fun. Plenty of DH race course stuff on the blacks.

Well, it is admirable that Keystone is at least trying, but the stunts they built are far to easy. I rode everything on my first attempt. Some of the trail design is a little hokey as well... the berm and immediate double (the second built jump) on Motorhead are way too close together. Also some of the stunts are just weirdly stupid. The short skinny section on Wild Thing that is all of four feet long and uphill is just goofy. They also need to learn to build their ladder bridges a little higher to incorporate some real drops. If you think this is like the Shore, you are kidding yourself.

Keystone has brought BC's north shore to Colorado! I rode the mountain for the first time in several years and it has added some cool suspended platforms and obstacles. Is any other resort in Colorado doing this? Also, has a fun wooden play area at the base of the gondola. Teeter totters and more platforms. Several log obstacles adorn cowboy up and wild thing is about as technical as it gets!

Customer Service

Cowboy up to tnt to wild thing.

Okay, to the guy that said "Earn your way down", I'd like to see you pedel my 45 lb. Dh'er up the Mtn. dressed in full armor. And what you ride the trail once a year? FOOL. Anyway. . . I've been riding Keystone for about 4 years now and it's still my favorite Mtn to DH in Colorado. Take the chair-life to the top and bomb all of the blacks all the way down, rinse and repeat!! For the more mellow rider on a "lesser bike" the blues and greens can be fun as well. Watch out for the ocassional rider/hiker coming up the trail but this doesn't happen too often. Just have fun. The people there are really nice, and the tourists are always full of questions about DHing.

Customer Service

For DHing, start at Cowboy Up and then just go exploring. There are tons of great log jumps, drop-offs and fast DH sections.
