I was sadly disappointed with the Woodward "bike park". The place is a joke, and should not even be called a mountain bike park. If you have a hardtail or bmx bike and want to ride a pump track, that is the only worthwhile thing there.

Otherwise, there are a series of table top jumps that are pretty well designed except for two problems with them -- it feels like you are pedaling up-hill to hit them (though it's probably just flat), and they are too close together. Trying to get enough speed to hit the jumps and maintain through more than a couple hits is pretty futile on a full-suspension bike.

The "North shore" section is just as bad if not worse. There is an easy elevated wooden ladder loop that is about 18 inches wide. Then there are sketchy 6 inch wide trials type stuff -- with nothing in between the two extremes. Definitely not a "progression". The wood structures are pretty poorly maintained, rotting from the sun and falling apart as well.

My first hint that this place was not all it was cracked up to be was pulling into the parking lot mid-day on a March Saturday in 70 degree weather and there are only two cars in the large dirt parking lot. If it was any good it would have been busy.

What this place is good for, is for aspiring BMXer's and mountain bikers in their pre-teen years. There were a couple families there with kids from about 3 to 12 years old riding the features and having a good time. Otherwise don't waste your time.

It's hard to believe this place was professionally designed. If I worked for hillride, I wouldn't be bragging about it!

so i was in fresno visiting family and thought i would check out the skills progression park in fresno....any way it was not all that its talked up to be.I am kind of new to dh and i thought the park was a little more gravity oriented well at least on the dh air course.need less to say that was not the case. And me being from oregon ashland area i thought it was a little hot at 95 degreese to be working as hard as i had to to get around that place. All in all if u like gravity assisted rides this place is not for u or me for that matter, but for an xc rider or even someone that likes to work there but off for a few measly jumps and some balance trails then this place is for u.by the way the single track outside of the park was more fun for me.

Hi Folks,

I only got to ride here for about 3 hours on one occasion when I had a business trip to Fresno. That said I had a great time. If this facility was in my area I’d ride it at least a few times per week. It’s a wonderful resource for skill acquisition and a lot of fun to boot!

Try it….you’ll like it!!!

Michael
