Fast flowing single track with very few technical challenges. Customer Service I started off at Buffalow Park and made the climb up to rocky ridge. Coming from the Valley the elevation really affected me but the climb is not difficult from a technical standpoint.

If you live near Buffalo Park (like I do) Lower Oldham is your backyard playground. Its either a nice warm-up for a longer ride or a little chunk of singletrack that you can get in after work almost any time of the year. There's a ton of singletrack trails off this trail east of Elden Lookout Road with a couple fun/rocky/technical sections. I definitely did something good in a previous life to have this trail in my backyard... Customer Service Buffalo Park to Lower Oldham, Up Oldham to Elden Lookout Road, up-up-up Elden Lookout to the Catwalk, down the Catwalk to Little Bear, Little Bear to Shultz Creek, Shultz Creek to Rocky Ridge, Rocky Ridge to Lower Oldham, Lower Oldham back to Buffalo Park--Buffalo Park to living room couch Similar Products Used: Just about anything you can get to from this trail-avoid going up upper Oldham (damn near impossible). |

Lower Oldham connects from town to the Mt. Elden Trail System i.e. Rocky Ridge, Upper Oldham, Little Bear, Sunset, Brookbank, Little Elden, Little Gnarly, Schultz Creek and on and on. The trail and its side trails are fairly smooth rolling single track with lots of carve, turns and woop-de-doos. Customer Service Start at Buffalo Park. Lower Oldham is mainly a connector trail from town to the Mt. Elden Trail System, but there are several side loops to be enjoyed en route. Similar Products Used: Anything on Mt. Elden. Good for several days of single track exploration. |

If you start at the parking lot where Elden Lookout road and Schultz Pass road split there are many ways to incorporate Lower Oldham. Try this for a nice long ride: From the parking area, go up Schultz Creek trail. (The trail that follows Schultz Pass Rd.) When you come to the "Gate Guard", turn up the hill on your right. This will drop you out in a large meadow with fantastic views of the San Fransisco Peaks. From here, cross the meadow to the other side where Brookbank Trail dives down the mountain side. When you get there, go straight across Elden Lookout Rd. Customer Service To truly enjoy what this trail has to offer it must be ridden TOWARDS Buffalo Park. See below for example. Similar Products Used: The entire Mt. Elden trail system is phenomenal. And, although we are "mutants", the locals are the friendliest people on the trail. |

i'm not sure why this trail doesn't have higher ratings. not having fun on it, go faster. lower oldham is about 3 miles long from brookbank intersection to buffalo park. nice and twisty with some jumps. can get a bit loose but nice and tacky after a rain. a few years back many of the obstacles were taken out ???, but still fun. excellent connector back to town Customer Service down lower oldham, better worth your time/effort to go up the road Similar Products Used: too many to mention |

The reason this trail does not get higher marks is that a frustrated idiot only gave it one "tire" and gave a bogus review to keep others off "his" trail. Bullshit on him. He was even afraid to sign his name. Lower Oldham and all nearby connector trails add up to about 10 miles of raging single track. Much fun here and it's hard to get lost. You are surrounded on all sides by Mt. Elden, Elden Lookout Road and Flagstaff. If you want a detailed look at this mini-trail system, have a look at my book. I rode it with a gps a couple of years ago. Have fun. Customer Service Find Flagstaff. Find Buffalo Park. Go straight out the back of Buffalo Park and you are on Lower Oldham. |

From Buffalo Park this trail is a good ride for all. Not too technical for the beginer and not too boring for the rest.It has a good short climb thats not too steep or rocky. With lots of dips and twisty areas to keep it intresting. This trail hooks up with many other trails that are even better. Customer Service Start at Buffalo Park and go up.Ya cant go wrong if ya keep going up.Down is a fine ride as well if your already up. Similar Products Used: Ride this trail up to upper brookbank to little bear and then down schults creek to the Mt. Eldon rd.up to the lower oldham and then back down to the park!.Sweet rides but a little loose in the dry season. |

This is a great way to get up on Mt. Elden and to the other singletrack trails. Nice warmup on the way up, and it's a good roll on the way down. Like one other reviewer said, if your not having fun go faster. Watch for hikers especially on weekends. Good trail for beginners to get some lungs and legs, as well as practice some tech stuff on easy round rocks that build confindence. There were some obstacles built on some fallen trees but they were taken out again, I assume by a "maintainence" crew. If a tree falls in the forest is there anyone there to "manage" it? Customer Service Start at Buffalo Park, ride up L. Oldham, connect some singletrack, then return via L. Oldham back to parking lot. Similar Products Used: Anything on Mt. Elden. |

Probably the best and easiest way to get from town to the other trails around Elden and the dry lake hills system. It's a moderate climb up, and a descent ride down especially combined with Upper and Middle Oldham. Not overly technical, but still good. While not really a great ride in it's self, it is the best way to get to the other trails in the area. As a side note, the person/persons that is continually giving poor reviews of Flagstaff trails is misrepresenting this trail system... IMHO. :) Customer Service See Little Bear. Similar Products Used: Little Bear, Schultz Creek, The Brookbanks and Oldhams, and all the rest. |
