Hi,
I have ZTR Alpine rims. The old rim tape got damaged so I bought a new one. I wanted to buy 21mm but I didnt recognize the guy at the shop gave me 23mm. I don't wan to waste time returning it. Question - can I use wider rim tape? Or should I cut it with a hobby knife?

Does it fit? There's your answer. It's okay if it runs up on the sidewalls a little. It just needs not to interfere with the bead seat or curl over.

Sort of. If you look at the inside of the sidewall, look for where the sidewall curls in, near the outside. Those are "bead hooks," and exist to secure your tire in your rim when you inflate your tire. The tire doesn't come in contact with the rim so much deeper in the rim. So as long as there's a little space on the sidewall between the tape and the hooks, I think you're alright.
