Your poison of choice for ticks

We ride in a very heavy layer of ticks. Seed tick season coming in July, this is where the female ticks lay millions of seed tick babies, they gather up into one long chain and curl up in a ball about the size of a 50cent piece. They then send a branch chain dangling off a leave, when a hair of your leg comes brushing by, gotcha! You pull the entire ball off onto you and before you know it you have 1000 itty bitty little tiny ticks buried under your skin, im talking from your feet to the top of your head. This is not to mention the large ticks, medium size ticks and chiggers (no seeums) poison ive and oak that one accumulates on each ride.
I use to shave my legs to help with this but my wife vows she will cut me off if i shave me legs, real mature huh. Here are some things ive found that work well: Powdered sulfur, problem it runs off when you start sweating. Permanone- cant get on skin. Repel 40% deet must reapply often. Thought about getting sulfur and mixing it with skin so soft. Any luck out there?

Well, it really kind of sucks, but in addition to the military issued bug juice and Skinsosoft, I used to suck on match heads to increase the sulfur in my blood. Ticks wouldn't keep latched on, and mosquitoes would avoid biting you too. Don't know I'd recommend it unless you're going into the deepest darkest though...You might consider wearing some Coolmax or Nike Dri-fit leggings to cover your exposed skin.... and putting some reppellant on them too.
Plaquenil, Biaxin, Diflucan, Doxy, Tetra, Mino cycline...oops that's just for the crap they inject you with.
Permethrin. You can spray the yard and house with it, dip the dog in it, and give yourself a shower with it. Works GREAT! Our yard was infested and the dog brought them in the house. Ticks everywhere. 2 applications and they were eliminated. Just be careful with application.
ok where are you from because this is freaking me out! What happens when they get under your skin?!

I usually only worry about skeeterz but I go with the near 100% DEET, not that pansy stuff - pure poison on the skin...ahhhh...
I will gladly endorse Off Deep Woods any day. The other day my buddies and I went riding. I sprayed up with my usual dose of Deep Woods and they didn't. I came out with zero ticks on me while my buddies had a half dozen each.

Ozark Hills Arkansas. Ive been in third world countries, hiked in the darkest rain forests of belize and never have encountered the ferocity of the seed ticks here. I do believe they can totally cover an entire body and kill you if you were to run thru a grass field in july. Yes they are as bad as it sounds. Milliions and millions of them. I killed a coyote one day came back four hours later and it looked like a horror film image, the coyote was one ball of ticks like a ball of maggots but ticks.
