You guys helped w/ knee pads, how about full face helmets...

I ordered a remedy to size, the crown fit well, but the cheek pads were about 1/2" away. The helmet moved easily and would have been displaced in a crash.

So, I order a medium, crown fit like a vice, the cheek pads touched, but the ill fit meant it could be displaced as well.

Standard measuring I am 23.5",
I need a full face that you really have to squeeze by the cheek pads.

Any one know of such a fit?
No one around here carries full face so I am stuck guessing.
Thanks in advance.

Honestly I find the Troy Lee D2 one of the best fitting. I personally think its worth absolutely every last penny over the others. I have owned 661, Giro remedy and a Bell (also good- and cheap) but the D2 is terrific. Thats why I have two...carbon ones...yeah I know! I like shiny things
do you have to wedge in past the lower /cheek pads to get in?
I found the Specialized Deviant to be tight around the cheeks. My husband can't wear one because it is too tight for him. The only other one I've tried is the Rock Gardn helmet and the Specialized is definitely tighter.
I don't have one but have tried on the Kali Avatar. 2 of my friends have it and love it. It comes with different pads so you can easily customize the fit. I also tried on my buddies 661 Carbon Evolution. It's a bit heavier but I recently saw it on Chainlove for $120 :eekster: Steal.

Hi phoenixsun,

I have an older Troy Lee Carbon (can't remember the model number but I think it's about 3 or 4 years old)...when I was shopping around for full face helmets, I wanted to spend as little money as possible since I'd only be using it for ski resort riding once a year. I tried a Giro Remedy. Giro is my go to brand normally, but the Remedy just didn't feel right on me.

I then tried a Specialized Deviant...was really hoping that one would work out since it looked great, had great ventilation, was relatively light and was relatively inexpensive. It didn't fit either (was too big in some spots, too small in others).

I then went to Jenson and tried on a clearance TLD carbon and it fit perfectly. The build quality is amazing on them, super comfortable, and they look great. The only nit I have is it's hard to drink from my camelbak while riding with that helmet on.

I'm not sure if others experience this too, but my full face helmet seems to feel better with goggles on (seems to provide an extra bit of snugness).

Hope this helps, and good luck in your shopping!

@miatagal96

Is that a deviant 1 or 2?
I wanted this at first, b/c of the venting looks awesome but read some bad reviews.

@ddraewwg
Any of those strike you as very tapered or tight to get into?

@tomheo
Thx, sounds like I need to give TLD a stab.

I had a perfecting fitting ff for mx, but ill be damned if I can remember the co.

I have no idea how it fits, but the archi-enduro helmet looks pretty interesting, a new full face helmet that attempts to be more breathable than most.

I have a Giro Remedy...fits me fine (med). The Avatar was too tight on me...it was a Small...think they run kinda big. But my buddy said there was another set of pads that were thinner and maybe that would fit me. I haven't tried it though with the other pads....just never got around to it.

Some of my friends have 661 Comps and they run kinda narrow. Don't know if all 661's run this way though.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. It's kind of a b!tch to get the right helmet because sizing and comfort vary so much among different users. And you really can't go anywhere to try a variety of them.
The troy lees come with fitting spacers. Basically stick on pads that sit underneath the liner to get the fir spot on. But yes, you do have to push over the pads, feells a bit tight until its in position - then perfect.
I too tried to save money, in the end it cost me more trying to find a cheaper alt to the D2 and I ended up with one anyway. As they say "buy right, or buy twice"
The helmets all fit different head shapes. What one person likes may not work for another. I happen to fit my Troy Lee D3 perfectly, but for Moto their helmets don't fit.
got a 661 comp II on Jenson USA for $52.
Light, well ventilated and fits me great. Didn't see any reason to spend more.
