and now I'm dreaming of a sweet Westy. I might actually seriously consider one if I get the time, parking space and money to sink into it.... convert it to a 1.8t or a 2.0 Golf engine. Those wasserboxers are krapp.

Somebody else's syncro converted to a 1.8l turbo.

This guy converted his Westy, and says he gets better gas mileage, and double the power. I wonder if the driveline can handle the extra torque. They aren't super durable to begin with.

Currently trying to find an MK2 or MK3 Jetta or 4-door Golf to replace my Passat. If anyone knows of one in the SE...let me know.

Nice V-Dubs.

As soon as I can find a pic, I'll add my '73 Thing. It was an everyday car for 9 years, while I was in high school and college, but now it's in the garage waiting for me to restore her.

Nice!

I drove a '96 GTi forever. I bought it in 99 with 40k miles on it, and ran it up to 230k miles before I sold it last December to get my A4.

Diesel

An '03 New Beetle TDI I recently traded in for an '09 Jetta Sportwagen (non TDI.)

Lost some gas mileage (38 mpg compared to 23 - 25), but gained a whole lot more space and comfort.

Nice! For whatever reason the MK3 is the only Golf that looks good with the Jetta lights/grill/hood.

I tried to find a MK3 to replace my B5.5 wagon but came up empty handed. Ended up with a Mazda 5 instead. It is great for biking and whatnot but I'm bummed that I'm not sporting a VW. At least I still get to drive the wife's MK5 every once in a while.

Wow. You must live in the southwest or some place that never sees snow...Where I come from those things didn't last 2 winters.

It looks to be in good shape though.
