Well, the salmon fishing in Kodiak currently bites, so Barny and the crew left their setnet site and came back to town for the closure. That can only mean one thing: the moss will rock. :)

An alder tunnel:

Crossing a small meadow:

Back in the trees, following a brand new trail I am building:

We ran into a brown bear on the trail at one point, but luckily Barny was in front and scared him off. She's intimidating like that: nuthin' but big fat brown furry bear butt crashing through the alders.

Edit: In light of the bear mauling of a young girl riding in Anchorage last night, I hope I didn't offend anyone with that last anecdote.

Man, I must say that Alaska has always called to me. I have made a few fishing trips (in fact, my dad just hopped on a plane this morning heading to the Wallstrum household in Kodiak) up there, for salmon and halibut, and as much as I love that, its going to be hard for me to leave my bike behind next summer. I didnt know there was any kind of mtb scene on Kodiak at all, but have always wanted to ride AK. Any part of the state would work for me. That trail just looks so awesome, and like nothing I have ever ridden before. I hope I get the chance to experience something like that someday. I wish AZ was a bit closer! Keep it up, I am totally jealous.
