Just clean the dirt off after a ride, then lube! I haven't seen much of a difference as long as its a dry conditions lube.

Are you concerned that:

1. It's a carbon based product?
2. It's a ground contaminate?

Trust me, I'm getting somewhere with this and no I am far from a tree hugger.

Sounds like icewax. Same carbonates and contaminates. Also, do you think it has good dirt shedding? I find it to be a little sticky on dusty trails.

Every question has just about been answered somewhere in some forum. I have other questions after the replies that will help me with my project. No need to re-hash a very old post.

It's never bothered me. What do you use? Chicken grease?

That would be worse as the properties would attract more grunge than ice wax, I vary what I use depending upon conditions. If it's moist, I do use ice wax otherwise it's some type of syn lube.

I use ProLink by ProGold ... it works great to clean chains and as a lubricant and its environmentally friendly. I used white lightning for awhile but i found it left too much waxy buildup.
