So here it is!!! after receiving it last week I was finally able to finish it this morning (delayed by work and being out of town)...

took it to the Dump this morning for a photo shoot and a quick ride to see what adjustments need to be made... very impressed w/ the overall ride right out of the box!!! the suspension soaked up as many palm roots as I could throw at it:thumbsup: ... although I'll have to wait for my pump to get here to make any adjustments...

I have to tweak some dérailleur adjustments as well... I forgot my rear Der was still setup for an 8spd drivetrain:madman: so I had some ghost shifts...

First impression of the Formula Oro K24's was fantastic  Setup was a no brainer... and only the slightest zhiiing from the rotor/caliper rub. after I bed them in I'll have to adjust the set bolts again. Excellent power and modulation... However, I need to train my fingers to stop reverting back to 2finger braking... One digit is all i'll need w/ these stoppers!!!

so second ride went very well... took the Iggy up to JD park for some of the sandiest conditions I've seen in a long time...If some trees don't get planted up there soon I fear the sand will take over nearly all the trails:( there were some new wood ladders covering up some of the bad spots... but, unless we just start building some more walkways I fear planting some young adult trees is the only way to go...

Anyways had some rear Der issues towards the end of the ride but I think I got 'em worked out w/ the barrel adjuster... other than that super cushy and has the ability to plow through the sand (although I might have to spring for some fatter rubbers if the sand keeps up the attitude).

Can someone say "rooty"???

how about good 'ol fashioned gator country?

the long bridge in the "Fire Ring"

so I'm looking at WTB MutanoRaptors, Prowlers, or Wolverines... Need something in the 2.3" range that can handle sand and roots... Hardrockers just aren't cutting it (or cornering it for that matter).

maybe I'll post in drivetrain...

hhhhmmmmm.... a bit of a problem has developed, I just installed new '08 X.9 shifters and I'm having the hardest time getting my rear Der. ('07 X.7) to behave:madman:

I'm having problems w/ the smallest 3 cogs on the cassette (PG980), more so the smallest 2 cogs... but I suspect #3 might be actin' a fool as well:nono:

My rear cassette is acting like an 8spd by normally skipping the 2nd smallest cog and either going right to #1(downshifting) or #3(upshifting)... I've fiddled w/ the limit screws, the B adjust, and the barrel adjusters... My Der hanger is straight (first thing I checked)...

The only thing that looks a bit odd, is that the cage and pulleys seemed to be pointing at a slight angle away from the cogs. It looks as though that my chainline is not completely parallel (looking down on both the top and bottom chainline)...

Any suggestions??? It is a new drivetrain setup, so maybe I just need to fiddle w/ it some more:D

Put bike on work stand..
1) Put it in 9th gear..
2) Reset limit screw..
3) Turn barrel adjuster on shifter all the way clockwise..
4) Now turn the barrel adjuster 1 and a half turns counter clockwise..
5) Release the cable from pinch bolt and reset..
6) Turn crank and shift into 2nd, if it doesn't shift into 2nd..Turn the barrel adjuster
counter clockwise in short increment (while turning crank) till it goes into 2nd..

When you get to step (6) and if it wants to go into 3rd gear when you want it in 2nd, than turn the barrel adjuster clockwise till it stays in second..

Or bring it to me and I'll have you on the dirt in five minutes..

well... went for a ride and it seems to behaving for the time being:thumbsup: Only a little slippage in the larger cogs now... But I've got new cables to break in anyways, so I think I might have a bit more adjusting to do...

Jake: that's kinda what I ended up doing in a roundabout kind of way:madman: It just would've saved me some time if I had done it step by step:rolleyes: Thanks:thumbsup:

oh yeah, Jake seems to be all about the X to the 0... maybe I'll drop some cash on a new gold frosted rear Der............ hmmmmm....:p

After you tuned an Xseries system a few time you'll be able to do it in your sleep

The 08' XO is a sweet performing r/d..You will notice a fast and cleaner shifting progression over the other offerings..The cage on the 08' is aluminum and carbon with titanium fasteners and parallelogram spring..Also the pulley wheels are standard and easily replaced with other brands..
Plus it's beautilious

ditto on the XO... It shifts clean and smooth sometimes you dont even know if you did shift or not especially with shifters without indicators. Makes shifting very possible and simple coming out of corners or into corners and such. Just awesome... and yes, the bling is very nice as well...
