Im changing pads on avid xx brakes.
they work fine but im wondering what pads to get.
I cant tell if they're magnesium or aluminum/ 2011' or 2012'.

also, the pads dont completely come in contact with the
rotor toward the top of the pads.
is this how its suppose to be or did somebody put
the calipers on wrong (me)?
its like this front and rear.
seems like if i take out those big washers from the caliper
mounting screws, it would move calipers toward rotors more
and better coverage....
i will try to get pic later
thanks!

Post some photos of brake set up and the wear on the brake pads.

Some Avid brakes are not meant to use the concave/convex CPS washers that most Avid brakes need.

Using CPS washers on a Non CPS (standard) brake caliper will make the pads overhang the rotor, you'll get pad wear like in the following photo.

Brake pads overhanging the rotor is bad, you will not get full performance from the brake and this type of pad wear can lead to brake failure.

hey thanks for all the info.
i never did figure out year...
dropped bike off at shop for complete overhaul
and the mechanic recommended organic pads so i went with it.
my brakes definitely dont use those washers between caliper and mount
and in doing so they didnt make full contact with pads like u said.
thanks!
