I was trying to service my XTR pedals because they had way too much free play.

I didn't realize the lock nut on one side was Left Hand threaded and cracked the cone/preload nut that sits on top of the bearing.

I called all around, and shimano, and they couldn't help because they only offer the entire spindle assembly which is quite pricey.

Anyone know where I could source one of these cone nuts? I'd assume they're cross compatible with many of their other pedals so some place is bound to have some?

Check the Shimano tech docs for part list across LX, XT, XTR pedals for common part # of the cone. If the cone is common across models then that opens up some chances to get the part for less than the assembly cost from Shimano.

Check with your bike shop for scrapped Shimano pedals, many of the parts are common across XT, XTR pedal platforms. If shop does not have any then buy used (cheap) pedals from Ebay and use them for parts.
