Got this setup on my FS bike, but someone told me that the XTR mech should only be used with the XTR cranks due to the ring positions.
Is this true or BS?

F dearilleur is just like a r derailleur. It doesn't know or care what it's shifting as long as the shifter puts it in the right place.
Those same people would probably tell me that my 2002 Campy Record f derailleur wouldn't shift my XT crankest but they'd be wrong.

That's what I thought too..... And it was working fine until the person in question fiddled with it!
However it does look that the inner side of the mech is hitting against the seatpost tube when it's in granny
