XTR BL-M975 brake lever adjustments?

Just wondering if there are any tricks or hidden adjustments on these levers.
I would like the levers closer to my bar when enegaged- so I guess I'm wanting bite point adjustment? I've played with the lever reach adjustments, the range seems fairly narrow, no matter how I set that adjustment the levers feel a bit far away from the grips to me when the brakes are braking;)

Lever reach is just an adjustment for the starting point of the lever itself, to adjust for finger length. Don't believe Shimano uses any kind of bite point adjustments like some models from others, so you'd need to adjust via bleeding. Double check with the technical documents on techdocs.shimano.com?
Can you explain "adjust via bleeding"?

pop the resi caps, push the pistons further into the calipers, removing mineral oil from the resi as needed? I figured if you do this, the brakes will just "reset" by pulling more fluid from the master cylinder, being an open system.

If it is really that easy though... then I'll try it!

Have no idea if it will do much, just saying you have limited options without a specific adjustment at the lever (personally can't see owning a hydraulic brake that doesn't have that adjustment).
The factory setting on my BL-M975 reach adjustment had them grabbing with the lever about 1/4 inch from the grip, way too close both front and rear. Wish I could offer more, but thought I would throw that out there.
