I demoed a bike last weekend with the new 10 speed XT. My Q is will 9 speed cranks work well with a 10 speed chain and cassette? 22 front and 36 rear would be sweet on my new AM rig.

I was just wondering the same thing. Is it possible to just change out the chainrings on a set of XT cranks to 10spd? Thanks in advance.

I am wondering the same thing, but I am wanting to use the 24-32-42 crank with a regular 9 or 8 speed system and get the FD to match the cranks.

So could you use the new DYNA-SYS cranks and FD with your current 8/9 speed setup?
