Hello,

I just bough a bike off of eBay, a '99 FSR Comp for my wife. It came with an XT rear derailuer, which is broken. I took it apart last night and the spring for the pulley assembly is not in the position it's supposed to be in. I don't want to spend that much and was wondering if I could use any different kind of rear deraileurs for this bike? It is an 8 speed, and it is a long cage. Thank you.

yep.. any shimano derailleur will get the job done, as long as the tooth capacity (therefore cage length) allows to run your cassette/chainrings combo...

PS: Welcome to mtbr!
