I have an XT Di2 groupset I'd like to mount on my old 26" Pivot Firebird, with the front derailleur.

The Firebird has no bottle mounts and I'm running a RS Totem coil fork with a straight 1.5" steerer, so no easy way to mount the internal battery. I want to mount a battery externally.

Any ideas for the best way to do this and the most appropriate battery?

Strap on bottle mounts?
Ive hidden mine in fork steerer but thd shimano aheadset pkug for that is meant for 1 1/8 steerer.

The external battery holder might have to be the way it goes, held on with velcro.

I've fitted it and got it working. It's pretty ugly though. I'll need to try different length cables and taping them to the frame.

Why not put it in the seat post. Works great there……

No internal cable routing on the frame, and not enough room with the dropper post.

I've ended up fitting it to my Evil Sovereign hardtail, again not internal routing. But, it does have bottle mounts. The front derailleur on the Firebird moves with the suspension and was contacvting the frame.
